@Aegis: I doubt a few hours will set you back much more than you already are. :p

Short, I know (as you others breathe a sigh of relief for not having to read another blasted long post :p ), but I haven't been able to think of a longer work up yet, so until I do, short insertions.

@Magus: If you've already thought up some ideas with dealing with my particular branch of the story, feel free to drop me a line, and we can collaborate a bit

I'm feeling quite inspired, and feel the need to write some combat (Magus, I got some special ideas just for your enjoyment ;) )

So, expect a nice little combat sequence in the near future.

Special ideas? Should I be afraid? :D

@Rob: This just isn't Yolta's day, is it? Someone should just paste a nice big "kick me" sign to Yolta's back and get it over with. :D

@ScardyBob: Hope you'll forgive my short post. As your character is somewhat of an enigma, I thought I'd let you handle your character's response rather than fudge things up by responding for him.

@Magus
Very nicely done!
I wasn't sure how to handle the situation inside the jail, but my post was a bit short if I had left it out. Luckely you could work with it.

Nice situation, again.
It's just one of these days I guess. :D I like the way you work with the whole xvart thing, my complements! :)

I'll try and post today, but first I have to go to a student meeting. :(

@Rob: Thanks. I guess you could say arrogance and condescension comes naturally to me...err, wait a minute... :p

I need some more info about Void.
This is what I think I know:

Hakeashar
Immume to non magical weapons.
Feeds on magic so is immume to it.
It'a mass of vapors but does have substance and form, but has no physical attacks.
Drawn to magic.
Feeds on a wizard's memorised spells or a weapon's/staff's/wand's charges.
No spell resistance

How does it move, like the time he dropped through the floor in Xandax's room? Is it ethereal travel or did he simply slip through a crack?

Normally they can't cast spells but since he's special because he was created by Magus, he can, right?

The reason I ask this is because I have a nice little plan. :D

Well, part one of 4 in the combat posts for me :D

I've always wanted to do a fight in the desert, and I'm having a bit of fun. Shame I ran out of available time, and will have to finish the Virrilis encounter later (it'll be worth it. Trust me ;) )

@Aegis: We all look forward to it. :) I hope Rail likes walking. :D

@Rob: I sent you a PM regarding your question. I'd like to keep Void somewhat of an enigma. Also, if your character is well-versed in world affairs with regards to magic, he may have heard of Magus. In that case, there's a chance he might have heard of Void in passing as well.

@all: I'll release a few tidbits about hakeashar in general to everyone:

1) At least in Baldur's Gate II, hakeshar could cast magic.
2) Hakeashar can't physically attack.
3) They're drawn to magic, and feed on it.
4) They are immune to normal weapons.

Note that Void is not a typical hakeashar, and some or all of these rules may not apply to him. Note also that Rob-hin's assumptions may or may not be on the mark. You guys will just have to figure it out for yourselves. ;) As always, your characters will have varying knowledge of hakeashar, depending on their background. And, of course, if they haven't met Void before, they don't know that he's "special."

BTW, spells I use are actuall 3.5 ad&d spells, so I don't make them up as I need them at the moment. Even the Arcane order comes from one of my books.
Making them up wouldn't be fair. :)

Well, there is Rail and Ferchen's part of the battle accounted for. Before anyone begins asking, I'm working off the assumption that since they aren't accustomed to the heat, and travelling swiftly with little rest, they're already somewaht hurt. Not to mention a high level wizard knocking them around with spells ;)

Next installment, Sethin, and depending on how long that one will be, Virrilis. I'm saving the best for last ;)

Well, one more installment of the combat. I'm starting to realize how difficult these larger scale battles are. Oi. If I didn't enjoy writing them so much, I'd have to stop doing it :D

Anyway, last, but not least, will Virrilis, and the fun stuff. :D

@Aegis: You got me snared now. :D I can't wait to see how this turns out.

I'd have to agree with Aegis, especially since I'm prone to making spells up on the fly. :p What was that spell from the Planar Sphere thread? I believe Magus cast something like the all-powerful "Summon 7 Nasty Balors." :D Still, sticking to real spells is an admirable goal. ;) You know, making stuff up as you go is a lot of the fun with these stories, not just regarding magic. Most of Athkatla II wouldn't exist if I hadn't done that. That's why this is a forum roleplay and not a game of D&D. But to each his own. Just know that I don't always stick to the rules. And Aegis...well he makes his own rules. :D

@Rob: There’s the end of that little encounter. I expected it to take a while, but it seems to have wrapped itself up pretty quickly. I don’t think I made any huge leaps of logic in predicting what Yolta would do, but I guess you’ll be the judge of that. I tried to roleplay Yolta as close as possible to what you’ve outlined as I could, and it didn’t seem improbable that he would feel a touch of pride at his clever trap. From there the post unfolds as a matter of course from my viewpoint.

Now, assuming you’re not too irate at me for knocking your character senseless…we need to discuss what happens while your character’s unconscious. PM me and we’ll begin negotiations. :D

BTW, as I said before, the situation could have ended in number of ways. But Yolta managed to respond in just such a way as to spell his own doom. In that regard, he probably would have been better off cowering in terror. ;)
