Giant Rancor (SPOILERS)

Post by nickdrj »

I don't remember fighting a big rancor in this area?

I just fought a bunch of mini rancors there when i came back for the captive. Is this an Xbox only feature? I only played the pc version.

Shame, would have been fun to slice up a full grown one with my jedi trio.

On the back of the XBOX game case theres a picture of a giant Rancor behind Zaalbar but aside from the one in the sewers I've never faced one.

There is a rancor there. If you do a certain string of actions, then you end up fighting the One in there and he releases the rancors.

Well i was playing as hard and when i went in that place to save one of the "ancients" or i'm not too sure how they were called I still only fought a couple of small rancors. I checked every corner of the map and no sign of any giant rancor. It's a shame i'm sure he would have been a challenge :)

There is no giant rancor on the unknown world in any version of the game at any difficulty level.

Bioware probably made that screen shot to impress people but never intended to put it in the game. I've seen shots of the PC on Taris as a Jedi but we know that's not in the game either.

My thoughts, too. Companies regularly do this during development, to drive up interest. It's harmless. I remember being at E3 a few years back, when KotoR was first revealed to the press, and they showed the PC emerging outside a large spaceport, with close to a dozen activities going on around you. People would stop talking when you approached, and sometimes ask if you'd want to join in. None of this, of course, figured in the final results. :D
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

There are four young rancor in cages, which the One will release if and when you fight him. But there is never a giant rancor, like the one found in the sewers. Furthermore, it's impossible to have both Carth and Bastila in your party at that stage. It's obviously a doctored screenshot, developers are not above that sort of thing.

It may have been a screenshot from before release. They (devs) may have had a giant rancor but then decided the encounter was too hard, and downsized to 4 smaller ones. Or it could also be that marketing had a level made for a few screenies. :)
