Carsomyr+6 vs. Blackrazor vs. Ravager+6
What do you think is the better weapon out of these three:
Carsomyr, Blackrazor, Ravager

The most powerfull weapon is probably Carsomyr. Dispelling on hit and having 50% magic resistance is quite nice
However, if you would have asked what my favorite weapon was, then I would've picked Blackrazor.
And welcome to the board by the way....... Another thing; just be patient, sooner or later people will respond to ure posts, you cant expect tons of replies in 30 min...

Matter of taste, I suppose.
Blackrazor can be dual-wielded for more attacks, more damage and probably more immunities as well. You can combine it with the Flail of Ages +6, Equalizer, Runehammer +5, Purifier +5 (takes Use Any Item to wield both), Shield of Harmony and/or Ring of Free Action for uber immunities. Plus you can give one of them giant strength girdles to someone else. Plus the rush you get from eating a soul with it is pretty hard to beat. Haste and uber Strength are pretty hard to top, and the level drain and healing is nice. Once you eat a soul, you start hitting so much more that you generally keep boosted until the fight is over.
Carsomyr has the dispel and MR. Both very useful. And it's +6.
Ravager has decapitation without a save and is +6, but I don't consider it truly remarkable. The decapitation won't work on the big boss creatures (hardly anything does...), but it's undeniably the coolest halberd out there.
If you're looking for other uber weapons, I can suggest the Axe of the Unyielding, K'logarath, Crom Faeyr, Angurvadal +5 or Purifier +5. Other interesting weapons may include Answerer +4, Runehammer +5, Spectral Brand +5, Kundane or Belm (off-hand - extra attack goes to the main hand), Gram the Sword of Grief +5, Celestial Fury, Hindo's Doom +4 or the Scarlet Ninja-to (if you have Use Any Item).

Don't forget Foebane+5. The "Minor Drain on hit" makes the wielder a excellent tank, because especially when hasted he gains lots of HP. I reaced more than 400 HP with a Barbarian dual wielding Blackrazor and Foebane.

Carysomar is definately the most powerful weapon in the game. The 50% MR makes it amazingly strong, especially since with a few other items you can make yourself immune to all magic.
A few other powerful weapons worth mentioning: Staff of the Ram, and Ixil's spear.
The problem with the 2 handed weapons is that they are two handed. Dual wielding is the way to go if you wish to dish out the most damage.
In SoA, the most damaging combo is belm and crom.
I'm not sure what they would be in ToB.

The best "weapon" in the game is your own brain. Use it.
palaking84, if you're new to the game, I'm not sure why you have already begun to dwell on the question of which weapon(s) will give you the most power. Do you want to get hold of those weapons as soon as you can? Are you trying to plan exactly what your character will look like when he's fully developed? Do you want to cheat and give yourself the best weapon in the game when you first start playing? This isn't meant to be criticism. I'm asking because I might be able to help you if you can tell us what you're trying to do.
Here's my advice about the three weapons you asked about. You can acquire Carsomyr +5 in Chapter Two (Shadows of Amn). You won't be able to upgrade it to a +6 weapon until you're over halfway done with Throne of Bhaal. You won't be able to acquire Blackrazor until you've nearly finished Shadows of Amn. (It can't be upgraded.) You won't be able to acquire the Ravager until you make significant progress in Throne of Bhaal, and you won't be able to upgrade it until you've nearly finished the game.
Therefore, if you don't plan to cheat, then Carsomyr will do you the most good early in the game, just because it's available and the others are not. Now here's a novel strategy: use the best weapon you have available, and when you find a better one, switch to the new one. The best of both worlds, see?
If you're trying to decide what kind of character to play based on the weapons that are available, then sure, it's a good idea to plan ahead. For example, if you decide that Carsomyr is the best weapon of all, then you might decide to make your character a Paladin just so you can wield the best weapon in the game. If you decide that Blackrazor is the best weapon of all, then you might decide to make your character Evil in alignment. (I think that the act which lets you acquire Blackrazor changes your alignment to Evil if you're not already Evil.) If you want to wield the Ravager, then you don't have to be Evil and you don't have to be a Lawful Good Paladin. So you can take all of those things into consideration.

Hmmm..
I suspect that palaking is new HERE, but if he's familiar with those weapons, not likely new to the game.
Dual wield/two hander choices are by no means so cut and dried as some people think. Off-hand weapons (except extra attack weapons like Belm) normally only add one attack per round, I believe, so in many cases their principal merits may be subsidiary effects (like Neg. planes, protection, free action, etc.)
And, well, if someone tells you weapon x or weapon x + weapon y is the BEST combination, they're probably wrong. It's not that simple. For my money, Celestial Fury/Sanchudoku is a pretty hard combo to beat, especially since it's a single weapon style.

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.
Nephtu is right, the dual-wielding adv. are not to be measured in term of dmg done, but in term of the benefit the off-hand weapom gives:
2h weapon both in SoA and ToB are singularly more damaging and powerfull and with the 2* in the style you get higher % for crit. hits, so dual-wielding hardly does more damage, but it adds some possibly greats add-on to your char. (and some extra damage too); this should be also wheighted with the use of the shield: some shields give nice extra abilities too and you excange AC vs dmg.
In the end there is hardly a more powerfull combo, there are many powerfull combo and the best thing to do is be flexible to switch to the best available at the moment and/or go for the combo that more fitt your liking and role-playing view.

I currently play a Paladin dual wielding Foebane+5 and the Purifier+5, and she just rocks
Purifier+5 is a very good off hand weapon for a Paladin, you get 30% Magic Resistance (almost as good as Carsomyr) and extra damage vs most opponents in the game. A minor benefit is the instant mass heal and dispel magic.
All in all, she has 80% Magic resistance and saving throws way below zero, and after some hits with Foebane she surpasses the 350 HP -mark easily

The Shield of Harmony is an oft overlooked by extremely useful off-hand item. Doesn't deal damage, but it'll keep your character going.

Yes, I would tend to agree. The Psion's Blade (+5 2-handed sword in ToB) also comes to mind, since it protects against psionic attacks, confusion, and (IIRC) some other mind attack.
Dungeon Crawl Inc.: It's the most fun you can have without 3 midgets and a whip! Character stats made by your's truly!
Shield of Harmony is a great item, one of the best off-hand item in all the game, included all the weapon!
But also some other shield can be very better than a weapon in specific situation: shield of Balduran vs. Beholder, shield of reflection against archers, Darksteel and Dragon shield for the resistance.
A shield in SoA can be very effective in reducing AC to level where the chance to be hitten are low (-10-15 range), but also in ToB a shield cobined with the Big metal unit can bring the Ac down to really effective levels (-20-25 range).

I used to like this shield when I first started playing. It is especially fun to use it against the archers in the balconies when invading Aran Linvail's stronghold for Bodhi. But the trouble with the shield is that it won't reflect missiles unless they score a successful "hit", which is illogical and counter-productive. To get any use out of it, you have to worsen your AC! This makes you vulnerable to melee opponents, who are much more common. Since it isn't particularly cheap and there are better shields against melee, I have stopped buying it.Originally posted by lompo

Resistance to Tyrants is Service to God.
in my opion anyone using that cheap hammer off hand should die =).
I woulda prefered duel wielding to be something only very few characters could do, maybe only rangers and the swashbuckler kit.
Crom fayer is just cheap, as cheap as kensai / mages, as cheap as berserker / clerics, as cheap as cloudkill, as cheap as a wild mage who reloads every 5 seconds...
Anyways, if you just started why worry about ravager / blackrazor / carsomyr?
They are ToB weapons (nearly). The carsomyr you can get pretty early in the game actually, but it is a paladin only weapon (mixed blessing), and as for blackrzor, you cant get it unless you want to become evil (your alignment will change).
If you are trying to decide what weapon type to go... well bear this in mind...
Longswords = There are many powerfull longswords in the game, probably more variety then any others, early in the game you can get Daystar (as in you can get it as soon as you get to chapter 2 if you know what you are doing), Daystar is one of the best weapons versus the undead, some other nice longswords are blackrazor (late game, but evilly powerfull), blade of the roses (adds some charisma when in use) ect.... all in all you cant really go wrong with longswords, there are some nice ones, ones youll keep onto the whole game, but there are stronger weapons out there.
Bastard swords = Stronger then longswords (barely), but bioware dosnt like them, there are very few in the game, for quite i while i was using a magical +1 sword, but in the underdark there are two very nice ones, and one in watchers keep... I dunno really, i allways feel dissapointed if i use bastard swords, simply because not many were added into the game, however Johr the bleeder and foebane are quite nice.
Axes = Not a hell of a lot of them in the game, and i personally dont like the way they look on the paperdoll, but there are some nice ones early game, better if you have the bonus merchants installed, a nice one at the de'arnise keep... and the best part is that throwing axes count as axes, so you will have a nice ranged attack, they do tend to be very weak in ToB though, with only the axe of the unyielding being over +4, really there are only enough axes for one party member to use, if you are going to use korgan (basicly play an evil party) dont use axes.
Katanas / maces / hammers / flails are all pretty crap, you only use them if you want to use one specific weapon, namely.. CF / MoD / HoC (Hammer of Cheapness) / FoA.
Spears / Halberds = Both of these just dont look cool enough for the PC to use in my opinion, and early game theres a shortage... however later on some extremely powerfull ones become available, however you have to bear in mind that they are two handed, so you wont get the AC bonus you wouldnt usually without a shield. Also has the same problem as axes, there arent really enough to go around, and early on you cant afford to specialise in weapons you dont have. If you can survive early on till you get the good stuff its a nice investment.
Two handed sword = These rock, theres a lot of them, lotta power, lotta versatility. One of the swords in game has a 25% chance of instantly killing a person, if you give that to a person with grand mastery in two handed swords, and max points in two handed weapon style (one springs to mind...), THEN great haste them you will have yourself a sickeningly strong killing machine. Also the carsomyr is badass if you are a pally, failing that give it to keldorn. Two handed swords just kick ass, there are enough good ones late game to mean 2/3 party members can use them without any problems, and being able to put points into "two handed weapon style" means you can have some extra kick to it. (unlike sword and shield style... that sucks, only gives miniscule bonuses against ranged attacks, or one handed weapon style, that makes you loose the shield bonus).
Generally speaking longswords and two handed swords have the most variety, but some of the best weapons are the only decent weapons in their class (such as the crom fayer, flail of ages and the celestial fury katana)

That almost makes it sound like two-handed swords are the way to go. While I agree Carsomyr is great, none of the other twohanders can even remotely approach a decent dual-wield combo in either damage or extras.
The Silver Sword may have a 25% vorpal hit, but it has a save vs death at -2. Considering the average ToB baddie has this save at around 5, it only kicks in about one in twelve hits. That means most of the time you're stuck with a plain unimpressive +3 sword.
Compare that to any decent Axe of the Unyielding dual-wield:
Silver Sword:
Granted, it takes a while before you can upgrade the axe, but this is just a sample of how weak two-handed weapons (Carsomyr excepted) are.

I highly disprove of duel wielding tho, and i wasnt limiting the silver sword as the only two handed sword, the gram sword of grief is nice, psion blade offers nice resistances too.
I was using sarevok with the vorpal sword as an example, seeing as he has grand mastery in two handed swords and max points in two handed weapon style when you get him, combine that with his deathbringer assualt and quite often things die a lot.
But yes axe of the unyielding is nice, but its the only melee axe if i recall that is over +3. Same as celestial fury is nice, but there arent many good katanas... same as crom fayer is total cheese, but there arent many good hammers in SoA (tob is nicer of course). Overall i find that you can allways find nice two handed swords throught the game, be it the sword of chaos, to lillacor, to the silver sword, to warblade, to psion blade, to the gram sword of grief. And theres some nice swords like soul reaver that have nice effects also, whilst there are more powerfull weapons in the game, i doubt any have the collective destructive power as two handed swords.
