Frustrating

Post by Valimar »

If by any chance this happened to someone else plz tell me how to fix it:

There is an area transfer that just stoped working! When I walk through it instead of leading me where is should it just stops the game and puts up the menu screen (the one with Malak proudly standing next to the options). The problem is it happens to be the door that leads to the Hidden Beks and I can't go on without returning the swoop engine to him. Whats weird is that the door worked perfectly until just now. I tried going elsewhere and coming back, restarting the computer etc etc but nothing works. I know i'm still at the beginning and i could restart my game but it's still 3 hours of game play wasted. And it's about the 5th time I do the Taris part so it gets repetitive. I'm going to try reinstalling the game now. Hope it works.

Did you try a cold boot, first?

Fable is asking whether you've turned your computer off, let it sit for a while (15 seconds is usually enough), and then turned it back on. It's letting your computer "cool off" or, in the purest sense, go cold and shed all the heat from use. A "warm boot," by contrast is merely punching the reset button or hitting ctrl + alt + del twice in quick succession ... you computer is still warm (or hot) during such an action.

Why thank you good sir for the clarifications!

Well about my problem I checked the official Kotor forums and the issue is a major one as hundreds of posts of angry game owners are posted there lol. No solution yet.

It's a great game but there are some terrible bugs lurking in there. My bane were movies ... if a cutscene came up, the game would crash if I ran it at 1600 x 1200 with the highest anti-alias settings ... I could only watch movies at the next resolution down. I solved the problem by checking vsync in the options tab and leaving the anti-aliasing off.

Well, if you want to try the "Windows" solution (a joke, if you aren't familiar with it ... the legend is that Microsoft technical support will tell you to just close the application and re-open it, which, sadly enough, sometimes works) ... go wander about in-game, play some Sabaac ... eh, its weak ancestor Pazaak, I mean ... and just ignore the Main Quest for a short period. Then try going back through the door. You might want to reduce your graphical settings back towards the lower resolutions, just for that moment.

EDIT: By the way, V, I've run across your name before, but I can't place it. What's the genesis?

I remember the name too, and he was from Canada. A person of this ilk was banned from the SimCity forums.
Same one ?

Valimar, yes i'm from Canada but i've never ever been in a SimCity forum. I never even played the game :D

I first played the name on NWN on a server called Lands of Lore, then I took the name on AC2 on the Morningthaw server and finally on SWG Flurry server. Those are the only multiplayer games you could have seen me on if i remember right. Oh, and I also learned recently that Valimar or Valmar are two names of the Valar "god city" from Lord of the Rings "The Silmarilion". Coincidence but i like it even more. Some other people told me it was also the name of a chick deamon in some game I don't remember the name of lol!
