Vampire questions needs answering

I have searched for this, but I didn't find anything.

How does one become a vampire? I have tried standing still while they hit me, but nothing happens. I have tried eating three vampire dust pile thingys. Nothing happens. Do I need more vamp dust, or what.

Btw, what extra ability\stuff do you get, when youre a vamp?
Any disadvantages?

Thank you in advance. :)

Wait for the vampires to put a disease on you. Then wait a few days and then youre a vampire just like that.
“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

Thank's, although I still need to know what the advantages and the disadvantages are, before I will become a vamp permanently.

So if someone could write what they are I would be very happy. :)

Search. I've got voluminous posts on the subject. Search on my username and the word vampire in this forum.

Scratch that -- it looks like some old posts, including my old vampire posts, have been pruned.

Short summary: to become a vampire, stand there and let one whack you. You have only a -very- slight chance of getting the disease (identified in game as "porphoric hemophilia"). It is impossible to get vampirism this way once you've gotten corpus in the main quest. To increase your odds of getting it, make some custom weakness to disease spells/potions to use on yourself.

Three types of vampire clans: Quarra, Berne and Aundae. Quarra are fighters, Berne are thieves, Aundae are mages. Each clan raises some of your stats and skills (different based on clan) by a large amount. You also get some extra spells.

Disadvantages: you can't talk to anyone. I mean -anyone-. There are like 10 non-vampire characters in the game who will speak to you, and that's it. You take damage in sunlight, at a rate of magnitude 5 (so constant effect heal self at magnitude 5+ will negate this).

There are vampire mods out there that modify some of the above, and are worth looking into if you plan to play as a vamp.

In addition: you may find a cure. However, i do not know if you keep all or some vampiric gains after that.

If you really want to go vamp, it's possible through the console. Sadly, I don't remember the exact syntax anymore, and the old post I had it in seems to be gone from here.

If I remember, of the multiple ways to do it, the only way that works well is through Addspell->"Aundae_blood" or something similiar. Sorry I can't be more specific.

I was just turned into a vampire a few days ago. I really like this twist in the game and I'd rather stay the way I am now. Is it at all possible to finish the main quest as a vampire? CJ said some people will talk to you, are those the ones connected to the main story?

Many Telvanni will speak to you, though they refuse services. It is supposed to be possible but difficult to finish the main quest as a vampire. I believe you'll at least be able to speak to the dwarf. If you have the master index plug-in, you'll still have access to the propylon network via the Caldera mages' guild. I'm thinking of finishing the main quest as a vampire myself - I'm trying out the vampire's embrace mod.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

I cannot ever remember catching vampirism other way than while looting the corpses (the same with other diseases). One or two times, perhaps, but not more.
However, i 'm not playing fighters, so they usually fall under the spell or arrow, altogether you surely risk to be infected while checking corpses. So you even might try to save before doing it and repeat several times.
Altogether i should notice that unamed vampires can infect you with much higher probability than named ones. On my memory i got the disease from named vampire only once.

I was a level 5 argonian battlemage and went to those dwemer ruins on the ridge going to red mountain. I fought the vampire in Ebony armor and it took me about 3 minutes to kill it not being so strong. I caught it and basically I killed everyone in the game. I am a bit psychotic.
