ewww.. doesnt sound so good but let me comment your parties.
Ranger as PC is good choice, atleast in my parties he/she usually is the most useful character. With insane stats PC ranger is a real killing machine. Imoen is a good choice (unless you dual her), Coran and Montaron are good characters but I don't think Branwen and Kagain are so good. If you want to have a good cleric you should have your PC as a cleric, Kagain is not so good compared to Kivan for example, and you level-up much faster with a smaller party.
In your MP party, why you have so many multiclass mages ? I'd rather have a cleric, ranger or two and thief in my party and evel-up fast.

I never understoed(sp?) why a ranger in BG1 is so good.
Except for the racial enemy it's just a fighter that cant specialize.
Although hide can be handy for scouting, thats what i usually use my thief for, cause my ranger wears fullplate.
As for youre party's, in SP you can choose whoever you want, i prefer:
Me Fighter
Imoen
Branwen
Minsc
Dynaheir
Kivan
Or
Me mage
Imoen
Branwen
Minsc
Dynaheir
Kalid
But all party's work.
As for you're MP party's try a little less multi-class, then you level up faster.
But that's just my 2 cents

Sigh...
There is no single best party, but at least if you're going to claim one, try saying why it's the best or what it's the best at - a concrete example:
In your party you have Branwen for Cleric -why? - I would contend Viconia is a better cleric for a variety of reasons
However, play what you like.
The Sarevok movie show's Sarevok's statue crumbling, it's not bad. You can just view it with the movie viewer, IIRC.

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

I'm not sure if this will work, but i picked it up from another site.
Use a text editor to edit the "Baldur.ini" file in the game directory. Add the line "Cheats=1" under the "[Game Options]" heading. Begin game play and press [Ctrl] + [Tab] to display the console window.
Type: CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()
Press [Ctrl] + B or [CTRL] + S
I havent tested this myself.
IIRC=If i remember correctly.

You see Sarevok's body lying in a pool of blood. "Sparkles" causse his whole body to disappear and go down through the "skull trap thingie" (in the center of the room). The image is a one-way flaming tunnel, real "hell-like". The sparkles go to Sarevok's statue and he crumbles into dust. (All the while you get the "ooooh" music in the background.)
As Sarevok crumbles into dust. The camera backs off and you see he is(was) in an alcove...one of...thousands. There are other statues in the alcoves, and some are dusted like Sarevok's...
In other words, there are more Bhaalspawn out there (so go get SoA and ToB .)
Did I forget anything?

IMHO there's no better (i.e. powerful and efficient) party than this:
PC- fighter
Imoen
Viconia
Edwin
This way, you don't waste xp dual- or multiclassing and your party levels up real fast. And there's no better thief than Imoen, no better cleric than Viconia and no better mage than Edwin.

Well I find
Me=Mage/conjurer/necromancer
Minsc
Khalid
Jaheira
Xan
Garrick
I know some people would think that is a weak party..true, it doesn't last long if you don't know how to use them.
Yes Xan is a real pain in the backside cos he keeps dying and his constitution is low and cruddy, but in the long run xan can be used more for longe range spellcasting and can stun your enemies, just teach him all your spells and give him all your magical items such as the metaspell amulet cos that gives you more spells to remember.
Minsc i great for kicking the hell out of big foes such as Knolls,Ogres,Giants and ankhegs,he just runs rright at them with his big ass two handed sword and whoops them, just give him and oil of speed poton and a storm giant potion and your laughing.
Garrick, another long range dude, but you can use this guy for spells aswell, you don't have to worry much about him getting killed if you have minsc and yourself or jaheira fighting cos they can't really get past.
What i do with my party ius go to all the areas outside the cities and find xvarts, knolls, gibberlings, hobgoblins ETC and kick their butts!Practice your startegies on these little blighters and any party is perfect..but i'm sure you knew that.
Plus Khalid is a bit of a wimp but a good fighter..he can go around behind your foes and bite at their heels...he's just the perfect wimp!

Ok at the moment I'm playing as a mage. I'm just about to enter Cloakwood, done everything possible except Firewine cellars (TOSC not installed. My party looks like this
PC evil gnome illusionist.
Well I picked gnome because I've never finished the game before with one and because gnome is a good choice for a mage. Evil simply because I want to get Robe of Evil Archmagi in Chapter 4.
He is armed with dagger, you can get +1 in Prologue and easily +2 in Revenant quest. Later when you got dough you can buy Dagger of Venom.
Imoen, thief/conjurer
My secondary mage, armed with bow and and spells like hold person, horror and sleep. Two mages can really change any battle! What comes to her thief side, she has enough good lock pick skill to open locks.
Kagain
A super NPC with gauntles of dexterity. HP 75 at lvl 5. Boots of Grounding and this guy won't go down in any battle. I've armed him with Warhammer +2.
Shar-Teel
Also pretty good fighter. I thought I'd play with very few NPCs but since I really can't manage with only one good warrior.. Anyway, she has Longsword +2 equipped.
Montaron
It's always fun to get Xzar in an accident. Very stupid to challenge an ogre in a fist fight Anyway, Monty has Shortsword +2 and Crossbow of Speed. Specialized in Pick Pockets.
Viconia
Flail +1, ankheg armor because of the weight.. Usually very useless NPC but very imporant in some battles because of magic resistance.

I played so many times to remember which class I played with which NPCs.
This is one of my favourite with the PC I created with intention to go through BG2.
PC: Half-elven mage/cleric
Imoen (as a thief)
Ajantis
Branwen
Kivan
Dynaheir (Minsc couldn't leave a house I sent him in, so I was *forced" to abandon him. )
I sometimes take Safana as a thief and dual class Imoen to mage/conjurer (so no Dynaheir after the dual). It's nice to have two thieves with different specialities, one can hide almost all the time to scout and backstab, and the other can open any locks and disarm all traps. I took Coran, too, but I didn't like his thieving skills when I pick him, and didn't like to go all the way back to Beregost for the reward for him.
The PC was one of the best I've ever created. With tomes and my luck with roll at the creation, she actually had descent STR (14) and CON (16) as well as other stats without cheating or giving her stupidly low charisma. It was really tough early in the game, but she was great in BG2.
