Skill Point problem?
Skill Point problem?
Is there some problem with getting skill points? I'm playing a jedi guardian with an INT of 12 and I'm only getting one point per level. Since my INT should give a bonus of +1 per level, that means the base for guardian is 0! That seems a bit harsh. Many of the NPCs seem to have the same problem, for instance Canderous only gets 1 too. Unfortunately the manual does't give exact amounts you should get, just say slow, average, or fast for the various classes.
Skill Points Are A Huge Problem
I don't know at what level it started happening but my scout started recieving less and less skill points per level. Now my gedi sentinal is recieving 3 skill points per level with a 14 intelligence. I noticed that some equipment can make this even worse. If some of the head sets that increase your awarness while leveling they somehow set all your stats to 8s for the duration of the leveling process.

I am having problems with my Skill Points as well. Isn't it correct that a Scoundrel with an Int of 14 would get 8 + 2 SP/Level? I only get half that amount when leveling up. After becoming a Jedi Consular, I get 2 SP/Level whereas I though 2 + Int modifier was the correct amount...

Maybe I should as well verify that my 24 starting SP are correct for a Scoundrel, and that your Level + 4 is the SP Cap for each skill?

Sadly this is all functioning correctly. The formula for SP gain per level is as follows:
Soldier/Guardian/Consular: (2 + int mod) / 2
Sentinel: (4 + int mod) / 2
Scout: (6 + int mod) / 2
Scoundrel: (8 + int mod) / 2
In other words, you only get an extra skill point per level for every four points of intelligence. Stupid, hey? You can drop your intelligence down to seven with no ill effects!

Thanks Armisael!
And what about the SP Cap?

For class skills, it's (level + 3); for cross-class skills it's (level + 3) / 2. So if you're a scout just turned level 5, you can have a maximum of, say, 8 repair or 4 security.
As I've understood it, once you turn Jedi all skills become class skills. This being the case, isn't it a good idea to save all points you want in a cross-class skill in order to spend them after this event? That way, the cap won't matter as much either, as you will be of higher level...

AFAIK, you cant save them.
Spend them or loose them.
Everytime I have opted not to use them, I get the message that I can save them for later. And they are there when I level up, ready to use... On what do you base your comment?

Incorrect... Jedi have their own set of class skills, the same as any other class. When you multiclass into a Jedi, the class skills from whatever class you were previously will remain class skills, and you'll gain new class skills from your Jedi class.

Again thanks, I just happened to choose a combo that opened up all skills as class skills, hence my conclusion...
