Wizard vs sorc
I'm considering playing one of those two classes. Assuming you've played either, which do you prefer, and why?
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Whenever I play a magic user (Mostly in other DnD games or even a few Pen & Paper though.) I always take the option of being a Sorcerer over a Wizard, mainly because although Wizards have more Spells to choose from, it always seems that it is the spell that you didn't study that morning that will save your life where-as a Sorcerer has to be careful in her selection to choose mainly spells that increase as she gains levels but she always has access to her entire Grimore and can freely swap a Fireball for a Lightingbolt if need be.
The sorcerer have more spells to cast (smaller spell pool, though, but you don't need a big spell pool, can provide a list over the spells I most often uses for arcane users) and dosen't need to memories before hand - that is a big plus in my opinion.
The only plus that I see for the Wizard is more skillpoints (due to higher intelligence) and more meta-magic. Firstly - skill points I feel is not used much in the two first NwN-releases (Original and SoU), so that point is rather mute. Meta-magic I have hardly ever used anyway - so that doesn't appeal much to me.
In a single player game - all things point (IMO) toward the sorcerer as the more powerfull and verstatile spell caster.
However in multiplayer games - the Wizard holds his own due to a possible increased focus on roleplaying where meta-magic and skill points might be more valued.

But doesn't the sorc receive a bonus feat every third level, after becoming epic?

my 2 cents:
If you already played this campaign then I would suggest a wizard because you already know what you'll be facing and can prepare your spells accordingly, if this is your first time and you don't know what is coming pick a sorceror and be very carefull with your spell selection. I always end up choosing a sorceror because I seem to pretty much use the same spells all the time regardless of which campaign or multiplayer world I am playing, and there are always a few spell slots left to play with some new spells.
The real difference is, IMHO, is that a sorceror is the type of caster who (with the right spell selection) can match any foe he meets in combat, while the wizard it the type who can OUTmatch any foe in combat with the consideration that he must know ahead of time what foe he will be facing.

Very nicely put: tactics vs strategy. I think you've made my mind up to give the sorc a try.

well
sorcerer take more bonuses from metamagic because he could take for ex. empowered fireball or normal cone of cold,
you don't need memorize metamagic spells and waste it when useless vs. some monster. for example you have memorized< as wizzard> empowered fireball and you are attacking fire giant( so this spell is useless), but sorcerer could decide what spell will be used in combat
So in normal combat/magic fighting< by surprise;-)> sorcerer is far more usefull than wizzard.
Wizzard when prepared use his skills with devastating effects ( more feats like spell penetration or spell focus)
Wizzard is good when you join to party and you have solid team
For 'single' fighting sorcerer is better choice
