I hate MAZE solo
I hate MAZE solo
I have been playing BGII as a 10/33 level swash mage for some time now and I have just spent an hour fighting Irenicus and every single time he mazes me and thats the end of the game.. Ok folks is there any way to beat him without using a pro magic scroll I had to do it with demi lich and I felt the fight sucked!! Is there an item out there that I'm not aware of that can give me pro against Maze?? Thanks
Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names..

I really don't know, just do summons a lot and cast "improved invisibility". The only advice I can give. That's how I would try.
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

This is why a Berzerker/Mage is better than a Swashbuckler/Mage.
Several ways around this. He doesn't use Imprison, so you only have to worry about the Maze which can be stopped by high Magic Resistance (Potions of Magic Protection) or by Spell Immunity or by other spell defenses, the strongest of which is the Spell Trap from the Staff of the Magi.

I had this problem too (not just with Irenicus) but with many of the spellcasters. They kept casting "Maze" against my solo Stalker/Cleric and when you're going solo, "Maze" is for some reason fatal (just like charm). I finally dug up the spell "Chaotic Commands," which actually protects against a lot of things (including maze) and lasts a long time.
Oh well, too bad that mages don't have anything like that.

IIRC, turning into the Slayer will make you inmune to maze, imprision and a few others.
Maze is fatal in solo because of a bug. Whenever your main character is out of the game (by maze, imprisionment etc.) the game starts the death secuence. I've seen my character come back from the maze and continue fighting, but as the death secuence had started, the interface disappears and you can't go on.

Level 33 mage????? You should have found some 8th and 9th level spells. Use spell trap or spell turning. First summon some spiders then fire elementals and skeleton warriors . Fire elementals damage everything with their fire damage.
