Poor me, don't have ToB yet...
But I'd really like to know what options Wish gives, what they do, and what Wisdom is needed for them...
Probably the only good reason (roleplaying excluded) to have a Wisdom of more than 3.

I read some stuff in other posts about "restoring the party" and supposedly getting back spells and innate abilities. Limited Wish does something like that, but only very minor. Hence, my interest.

Here's a list of all the wishes:
*'Improved Haste' on all enemies in the area.
*Level Drain two levels from each party member.
*Bring a 'Meteor Swarm' down upon the caster.
*Temporarily remove half of the caster's HP.
*Caster loses all memorized spells.
*Party loses 10,000 gp.
*Temporarily reduce the Strength of all party members to 3.
*Temporarily reduce the Dexterity of all party members to 3.
*Temporarily reduce the Constitution of all party members to 3.
*Temporarily reduce the Wisdom of all party members to 3.
*Temporarily reduce the Intelligence of all party members to 3.
*Temporarily reduce the Charisma of all party members to 3.
*Heal all enemies in the area.
*Temporarily remove 15% of all party members' HPs.
*Summon an extra hostile monster into the area.
*Everyone in the area, both party members and enemies, become intoxicated.

The rest is not all that interesting, actually... Too much "everyone in the area, enemies and party" stuff. Still good if used right.

i've tried the wish w/ a wisdom of 18 & int 21 (both due to potions) and could not get a favorable result w/ the spell.
imo this spell sucks almost as much as know alignment.
i would have hoped that since they decided to include it, and it's one of the most powerful mage spells ever, it would actually be fun to cast one. i thought wrong. at least on the plus side "level drain" is no longer the worst 9th lv spell. ltd wish is much better imo.
and while i'm in rant mode - what's the deal w/ 10th lv spells. they are not, they are 9th lv spells called 10th level. wtf.
and some kinda do the same stuff, comet & dragon dreath.

Tried out Wish earlier today with edwin...heres what happened.
edwin (wisdom 10)
negotiated and was able to get "make it like all party members have rested for a full night"...which restored all spells including the initial wish spell. (very cool).
edwin (wisdom 18 from potion of insight)
negotiated and got a bunch or nice options including hardiness or deathblow on party members and the above rest.
so it looks like you can do the full rest over and over...you could memorise 3 wish spells use the first 2 to cast hardiness...giving all 80% resistance to damage then use the last one to get the 3 wish spells back...cheesy

What options you can choose with wish are random, so only sometimes you will get the rest party thing. Once in a while you get some really crappy options and you still have to choose one. All in all its a great spell if you are losing a battle. Also my dwarf mage likes the wish that gets everybody drunk!

In my opinion the wish spell was done well. It is just quirky enough to be believable (Drunkedness), powerfull enough to save you from certain defeat, yet extremely dangerous.

If your wizard has bad Wisdom but you really, really want a specific Limited Wish, you can get another character with good Wisdom to talk to the Dao before he talks to the caster.
Does that work for Wish as well?
If so, why even bother raising your Wisdom above 3 for reasons other than roleplaying purposes...

3 points in wisdom causes 50% spell failure, so in my case i never let my wisdom go under 13 with spellcasters
When I tried the Wish spell with a char with Wis below 13, the dialog box said that the Djinn really confused me and I really didn't know what he was talking about. When I tried it again after boosting the Wis up with some potions, I was basically backing the Djinn into a corner with my negotiating skills and ended up with much better options. So, Wis does indeed play a role when casting this spell.
