Deleting old saved games

Post by ultimate_ed »

I tend to save often and, particularly being my first time through, I find myself with a lot of old saved games from Taris that I now what to delete.

I see that each saved game has it's own directory. Is it going to cause a problem if I just delete those directorries in Explorer vs. going through and deleting them one at a time in the game?

Doubt it. Try it out and see, it's not as if you can't undelete them.

what's any easier about deleting the folders in explorer than deleting the saved games in-game?

if you do delete them in explorer though, remember that the first gameslot is always reserved for autosaves. so 000002-Game1 is your first manually saved game.

It goes faster: you may delete the whole catalogue of old saves, then create a new catalogue with the same name for your new ones.

Indeed, the speed and ease of being able to delete almost 100 folders in Explorer vs. having to go through as many cycles inside the game is much more appealing.

My main concern was whether there would be some kind of database corruption in the game if I deleted the saves outside of the game environment.

I went ahead and gave it a shot and I've seen no issues now as I continue to play.

Just and old habit. I learned early on when I played RPG's more regularly (around 1988-1993) to save often.

With KOTOR, it is about as easy to create a new save as to reuse the latest one, so I ended up with quite a few. Got to be a pain to scroll all the way down to load up the current game, so I finally cleaned house. :D
