Snowboarding, hi. Welcome to the forum. Please note that I'm changing the title of your thread to actually reflect the contents; this will get you more replies. Also, I'm putting an indication for spoilers in your title. If you'll read the sticky thread at the top of the forum, you'll see that we've gotten a lot of complaints from gamers who don't want to open threads unknowingly, only to find information they'd rather learn on their own. Please take that into account on your next thread.
As to your question: you can't enter the Leviathan before finding 4 star maps. After you've discovered the fourth, your next trip into space automatically has the Ebon Hawk pulled into the Leviathan. I'm not sure, therefore, what you mean by "doing things backwards." Perhaps you can explain what you did. Have you played through, before?

i dont know exactly what happened. i wasnt able to get past the sand people so i just skipped them and went to all the other worlds. after i went to Korriban and found my 3rd star map. i was going back to tatooine to get my 4th star map but instead i went to the leviathan. i beat that and went on to tatooine but now my characters die before going to the sand peoples enclave. i found that i can go back and do it but since that would mean redoing a lot of work i was hoping someone else has been able to fix a problem similar. thank you

I'm pretty sure I've had both of these happen to me (in separate games), and they were unconnected. (This is on the PC version, with the patch.) My theory is that the Leviathan picks you up once you've both killed Darth Bandon and been to all four planets. You don't actually need to have found the maps - or perhaps you just don't need to have activated them.
On a different occasion I tried to see if I could fight my way into the enclave. Turned out I couldn't: I got near enough that the turrets started firing; a bit nearer and my characters all just died (no gradual reduction in health; just sudden death).
Snowboarding, if you're trying to just fight your way in you may be having the same problem.

There's no error here with the Leviathan. You get captured after you find your fourth star map (*including* the one on Dantooine). If he went to Tatooine, gave it up and then went off and found the star maps on Kashyyyk, Manaan and Korriban, then the sequence played out correctly. But I can't explain the sudden death thing.
sand people keep killing you

You have to get HK-47 from the droid shop on Tatooine. It has the ability to understand the sandpeople language. You have to have this character in your party when you reach the front entrance of the sandpeople enclave. Once you get the droid, you then have to fight a few roaming sandpeople and steal their clothes to disguise yourself and another party member as sandpeople. With HK-47 and the sandpeople disguises you can get to the front entrance without getting attacked, but make sure someone in your party can disarm mines, that way you can go through the pathway behind the sand crawler.
I found it very useful to read the journal entries periodically thru the game as it gave excellent hints!
Good Luck!

I already have HK-47 and everybody else in my group. i have the sand people clothing and i walk past all the guards but about 10 feet or so from the sand people enclae as soon as any one of my characters goes to far all my characters die. Sudden death basically. no hurt or gradually pain or anything like that.

I repeat: how do they die?
Is there an explosion? Is it electricity? Do they all suddenly keel over? Is there nothing on the screen that indicates how, except for a message saying "your party died"?

Get dressed! Before entering and/or getting close to those turrets at the entrance get your party dressed into sand people outfit! You don't even need the assasin droid if you don't want to talk to them! I'm pretty sure the turets were your doom, happened to me too. They won't fire till you get very close to them and you can't destroy them. You won't have problem with them on the way out. Also when inside you may change back to the armor you were using if you wanted to. Hope i helped!

So...no indications that they're dying from turret fire?

I think it's a coding issue, and you'll need to contact Bioware tech support. It certainly doesn't sound like any of the other issues wev'e seen which were resolveable through updated drivers, better memory management, turning off graphical features, etc.

uhmm, as far as the turrets are concerned if they fire once you are dead. they don't have to repeatedly fire, they are an insta-kill devices, just like the turrets outside the elevator to the undercity on taris. one hit your dead sort of thing. simple plot devices. you don't have to be hit repeatedly.
so if they fire you are dead, that simple. it is not recognizing your disguises for whatever reason, try switching clothes and back into the sandpeople clothes again.
and make sure you don't have the wookie in your party. this is usually self-explanatory, but thought i'd point it out anyway. just to be safe.

Uh, neither set of turrets is 'insta-kill'. I've done the sand people enclave in the dark manner several times (totally disregarding the disguises, running in and killing everything that moves) and I've never been gunned down by godlike turrets.
