Malak confrontation - spoiler!!!!!!

Post by theagent »

This topic will contain spoilers about the final confrontation!!!!

Does anyone know a complete list of what kinds of force powers can be used at the final fight to destroy the jedi in the machines who malak use to regain his strenght. The first and the second time I played the game I used force storm then kill, both worked. U think there is a way you end up not being able to destroy them? Has anyone defeated malak and not destroyed them? Is that possible? (might be a good challange :) )

Nope. Malak is invulnerable whilst any of those Jedi still exist, and if you don't kill them off, then he will. The Force powers that work against them are drain life, lightning, choke, throw lightsaber... think that's it. Using drain life on them will also fully replenish both your VP and FP.

In my first game i defeated Malak without killing the Jedi.
I played light-side so i didnt had any powers to kill them.
So i kept hitting Malak untill he had drained all the Jedi.
And then i could finish him off.

I never played dark-side (only played one game untill the PC crashed, so i restart as soon as it's fixed with a dark jedi) but i think the final battle will be much easyer if your able to drain all the Jedi yourself.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

I just finished the PC version, playing a jedi who attained LS mastery. Got Life Drain, and of course was able to use it to drain as many jedi as Darth Malak did. Didn't receive any DSP for it, either. Leaves me wondering if the developers deliberately chose at times to flip a coin as to whether to give out DSP for an action or not. :D
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Think so, when my lightsider died fighting Malak and i reloaded, and attacked him instead of trying to turn him, i received DS points (and lost my lightmastery). So i had to realod again and had to go trough the whole conversation again.

Gets quite annoying!

I think lightsaber throwing doesn't cause ds points. IIRC

what are the advantages of lightmastery darkmastery?

except that you get to wield some crappy items
The Dark jedi code/Sith code

There is no death, there is immortality.
There is no weakness, there is the Dark Side.

I know no fear,
But rather I instill it in my enemies.

I know the power of the Dark Side.

I pledge myself to the Darkness.
For I have found true life,

I wouldnt call the starforgerobes and darkrevans robes crapy items.

When you optain mastery the powers of the opposite side cost more and your powers cost less.

And you get the following bonusses

Light side mastery
Guardian: +3 STR
Sentinel: +3 CON
Consular: +3 CHA

Dark side mastery
Guardian: +1d8 damage
Sentinel: Poison Immunity
Consular: +50 to Force Points
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

FYI, Destroy Droid works against the pod Jedi as well.

You can use any power you like on the two-minute Jedi and not get DSP. I always take drain life before the end of the game specifically for this purpose, regardless of whether I'm light or dark.

spoiler malek

I played as an armor-clad sentinel/soldier. When I confronted Malek on the Leviathan I started chucking thermo detonators at him and it worked.

When I met him on the star forge, I basically used the same tactic because he stands still long enough for me to chuck more thermo detonators at him. I didn't realize he was healing by using the jedis in stasis until the second cutscene. I kept my strategy fairly simple at that point.
1. Run to the other jedis and kill them first before Malek can.
2. Have an ample supply of life support packs because you'll need your force powers to deflect Malek, and keeping dosing up with life packs even when Malek strikes you can dose up to full health, which gives you time to do the third thing.
3. Continue to toss a combo of thermo detonators and plasma grenades at him. Your character gets hit with a little fallout, but since I had the armor necessary I survived the explosions.

The fight lasted only seconds maybe a minute or two.

It was messy but it worked for me! :p

Cheers!

I've played both light and dark and the only powers against Malak that did any damage was force lightning(dark) otherwise he resisted eveything and so I Master flurried his ass.
As for the Jedi pods, once he goes to his second pod, which is after he sucks the life from the first, then you beat him down to use another, when he runs off to rechange, I used whatever super speed I had and ran to all the lower pods and used either throw saber, kill, force wave, or death field (which you get both more health and force power, just as Malak) and get rid of the bottom four jedi pods.
I would use force armor to keep his lightning from doing major damage and keep flurry going as much as possible. Once he's uses his last pod, this happened both games so far, he'll run from the top level torawds you, stop, and start from the throw saber distance and throw at you, (pause) set up a Thermal Detonter to toss, once thats landed and knocks him down, if u have more, keep tossing em, I used 11 both games and I never even touched him from that point of his last jedi pod usage. Of course this took many different saves and many stadegies; but boy did I feel stupid for not figuring it out sooner. Of course it may not work depending on character. Both my LS & DS were Scouts.
I'm about to go through again as a female scoundrel to see what the various dialog between Carth and my character are going to be, as well as all of them. So far he's hit on me twice(Im' blushing) and about to leave Taris.
These aren't the droids you're looking for.

I think my strategy was a bit more simple. Force resistance, Arkadian Melee shield, Master Flurry, Life Support, lather, rinse, repeat, with some destroy droid in there to kill off the jedi. Took one try (on normal) and now it's time to follow the dark path :D

I killed him on my first attempt waiting him out.
I never understood that "DC" and so on, but still managed to kill him, on normal, and then on hard. no, i didn't cheat. I just don't get all the fuss about beating him.I'm not trying to brag or anything, just saying my point of view..
