yah, about the demon... i decided to tinker with my methods and before i even took the eggs, as soon as i walked into the temple, i slaughtered everyone. they were all friendlys but then they turned hostile but dey were no match for my chars. then i went took the eggs and ran as fast as i could out of the city. then i returned the eggs to the drsagon, and all was well.
if anyone reading this would like to try this please keep in mind for your characters safety that i used a hacked char to do this so it would be quite hard for u er... ah... mortals. tee hee.

Alright, enter the temple improved invisible, backstab the guards, enter the chamber, kill the Golems (I think Crom works fine here, not sure though, it's been a long time), exchange (not only steal) the eggs and get out. No one should turn read - yet.
Kill the golems? Are you nuts? I can think of nothing less stealthy than that. Forget how similar the fake dragon eggs look, you think when the matron mother sends people to go get the eggs for the ritual they're not going to notice all the guardians dead on the floor and think "Hmm... I think somebody has been in here." I make sure not to kill the door guards for the same reason (required some patch to make that possible after TOB was installed though).
Really, what pissed me off was that if you turned Phaere in to the matron mother, she automatically would take the real dragon eggs from you. I always thought that a much better way to work the double-cross would be:
1. Replace real eggs with Solaufein's eggs (not Phaere's).
2. Go to matron mother with Phaere's eggs. Dialogue here goes normally, Phaere ends up dead, matron mother thanks you, and then goes to prepare for the ritual.
3. Ritual happens, matron mother uses Solaufein's eggs, ends up dead.
4. You walk out of the underdark with the real eggs.
Unfortunately, midway through step 2, the matron mother takes the real eggs (even if you have them on a character in an entirely different room) and then isn't at all suspicious of you when there is another set of eggs in the treasure room. Grrr... Next time I'm going to try dropping the real eggs on the ground before talking to her. Maybe then she'll use the fake eggs I left for her, but I doubt it... Stupid matron mother.
It is was too easy to slaughter everyone in the Drow city. The game designers should have made it impossible.
There's only one way I know of to fight the Demon Lord: you have to offer him the real eggs. Otherwise, he will leave without giving you a chance to kill him or, if you act flaky, he will kill you instantly (game over). Also, if you do fight him, he is way too easy to kill for a monster who has the power to kill you instantly. I mean, which way is it supposed to be? Let's be consistent.
Not being able to steal the eggs by letting one character use stealth is the biggest design problem of all. We have discussed this repeatedly before. If I recall correctly, the only way to steal the eggs without getting caught is not to let ANY of the Temple inhabitants see ANY of your characters, no matter who is sneaking into the Treasury. Even if one of your other characters is on the other side of the Temple, if a priestess sees him when one of your other characters enters the Treasury, everyone turns hostile. If I recall correctly, the answer is to make your entire party invisible even if you only send one person to get the eggs. It's a big hassle.
On the other hand, it isn't absolutely necessary to finish the Drow quests or to retrieve the eggs. You can fight your way out of the Underdark if you want to, and that's actually what you have to do even if you retrieve the eggs.

yah thats wwat i did but even when invis whole time Pheare or sumthing is hostile to me also! EVERYTHING, in the Drow City is hostile.... i alrdy go out just saying ya know...
i just walke into the temple to take the eggs and immedietly attack all drow, then stole eggs. and ran out of city. attacking people randomly is working out for me today.... at the bridge district i couldnt figure out how to get into the battle with him so i just attacked him and all the tanner's armed gaurds! E Z match.
