Armor wearing Jedi
Anyone ever finished the game with an armor wearing jedi?
And if so do you think it's worth it to sacrefice some of your forcepowers for an higher AC? And what classes, powers etc. did you take?

I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

i personally liked alot of the armor aesthetically better than the robes. not to mention some of the benefits gained from armor such as the yavin station armors. i wasn't too fond of the way the robes looked personally, and so i kept the really good armors, and sacrificed a few force powers. through the game i focused mainly on powers not restricted by armor. force wave is an absolute must.
but needless to say you will reach a point where you have to take some powers restricted by armor. and not only that but powers such as force armor, master speed, and master valor when combined will make you almost invincible. and these buffs are practically necessary on the star forge. so on my second time through i did pretty much the same thing and focused on powers that were not restricted by armor first. but only with my main character. and then i supplemented my powers by giving the powers i did not have to other jedi party members. then by the time i got great robes like the qel-droma robes, and the star forge robes, i had the powers necessary to hack through the star forge like a crazy man.
class-wise i went scout/guardian. great saves all around, force jump , free implants, uncanny dodge, and the gurdian class gives stats that make this class combo very comparable to the soldier/guardian combo.

Armored Jedi
I have played the game twice now, entering my third time just now and have never used robes on my primary Jedi character. After awhile I realized it was totally unnecessary to use force powers in the entire game. I have played it in Normal mode and Hard mode, both times with the same result. The only force power I have ever used is Heal, which can be cast with armor on.
Aesthetically, the robes all look the same and pretty much suck. There are only 2(?) robes in the entire game that have actual extra stats on them, and one of them you get in the last 5 minutes of the game. I was very, very disappointed with the treatment of robes in the game versus armor.

Armor effects on to hit of lightsaber
Another thing to consider, at least on the XBOX version, is that the characters' Dexeterity bonus determines the "to hit " bonus for lightsabers. I know the manual staes that the Strenght bonus affects lightsaber "to hit" rolls, but after experimenting with strength and dexterity boosting items the Dex bonus is what affects the "to hit" roll, while Strength does affect the lighsaber damage bonus. Try it for yourself. So, as long as the armor allows a decent Dex bonus it should be a non-issue as a few offensive and defensive force powers allow armor use. I think the Dex bonus affecting lightsaber "to hit" is more realistic as it is supposed to be difficult weapon to wield and master. Later....

The game is beatable without using force powers, naturally. But what you probably don't realise is that it's vastly easier with force powers. If you've never done it, how can you really know? How about wearing robes your next playthrough and using force speed liberally? After awhile I realized it was totally unnecessary to use force powers in the entire game.
I don't know what kind of experiments you ran, but this is just dead wrong. The higher of strength or dexterity is applied to your lightsaber's attack bonus, not both at once - it's the same on both versions, and I've played them both more than enough enough to know.I know the manual staes that the Strenght bonus affects lightsaber "to hit" rolls, but after experimenting with strength and dexterity boosting items the Dex bonus is what affects the "to hit" roll, while Strength does affect the lighsaber damage bonus.

I never said in my post I thought the bonuses would have a cumulative effect. Thanks for the information, though. As I recall, I was changing STR affecting items and I must not have gone above my base DEX bonus, so it appeared the DEX was only affecting the "to hit". If I had tried a stim pack, I would have seen what you have seen, the higher of the bonuses is used. In the end the manual is "dead wrong" for not detailing this, though a minute detail indeed. I wonder if it was done to accomadate armor wearing Jedi's? Having played both versions, is it worth getting the PC version? I typically play PC games, but KOTOR was one of the reasons I bought an XBOX. Later...

Well, yeah. No argument here.In the end the manual is "dead wrong" for not detailing this, though a minute detail indeed.
Lightsabers take the strength bonus for the purpose of AB in the core rules, as you'd expect from any other melee weapon. The game essentially gives you weapon finesse (lightsaber) for free. Not really sure why.
It's not really worth buying both versions, no. The only reason I have both is by freak occurance - the same day I went and picked the PC version up from the shop, my father went out and bought himself an Xbox and KotOR with it.
yah when i played the game 2nd time, and put my points into dex and not str. it was twice as easy.
i'd say i wear armor about half the time. the part where i'm not fighting force opponents. (especially tarantetekekekeks)
you can get a +17-19 on def, which makes you practically impossible to hit for non-force opponents.
of course, you don't really need armor. you can walk around naked, and still punch your way through the game without using medpacs.

I agree I didnt like the way any of the robes (exept for revans) looked.....I like armor better, more protection if it costs me dexterity but it doesnt matter cause I get dexterity from my attributes......I just started a new game just to get the best armor(xbox) Cassus Fett's armor and now I figure out it looks terrible.....I hate the pink with the green on the sides and the open spots....thats why im gonna stick to Cano's armor..possibly the best armor for x-box....So what do you ppl recomend me to do? Get Fett's armor dispite the way it looks or spend my money on other things such as (insert things).....

same feeling here, about Cassus Fett's armor. bought it just because the price made it seem like it would be great. and the stats are pretty good. but when i saw how hideously ugly it was i got rid of it. i mean geez who designed the thing, and are they color blind or just lacking in color coordinating skills.

Exacly if your gonna design the best armor for a game make good looking...Or change the colours like the ones on Calo's, the black sides with the silver truely make a nice armor and a powerfull one too .So now im stuck with 12k to spend on medpacks until I get heal from force powers....or until I get to Manaan and buy that awesome mask and then the gloves from the guy on koribban....

i think you may be somewhat confused there my friend. the pc graphics are much better than the xbox's. all the texture sizes for the game had to be cut in half when designing it for the xbox, while the pc version kept the original sized textures. making the textures for the PC twice the size of those used in the xbox.
not only that, but if you look at the minimum system requirements for running this on pc, you will see that the minimum requirements to run this game on a PC is of a much higher quality than the watered down out of date computer components that make up the xbox.
so i have no idea where you could possibly get the idea that the graphics for anything on the xbox could EVER be better than what they would be on a PC. because all the xbox is, is my computer from 7 years ago scrunched together into a little box.

The Xbox doesn't have to devote any power to all the peripherals a PC does... even if the hardware itself is completely outdated by PC standards, the box often runs smoother. But it's not worth starting a big off-topic debate about it here.
Personally, I find most of the armour in this game (robes inclusive) absolutely hideous. The only skin that I'd even venture to call 'good' would be Revan's robe. The Star Forge robe and Calo's suit are okay. Pretty much everything else looks either downright bad or as if it were skinned as a joke.

i never mentioned anything about power supplies. i simply said the thing was using out of date components, and that from the articles i read discussing the textures for the game, they had to be sized down for the xbox version because of this. i never said xbox doesn't have a 460 w power supply like i do. i just know the processors are not up to even 1Ghz, and that the video card is 2-3 generations behind current pc standards.
but i will not start a debate. okay, too late for that. i will be quiet and not let a debate continue.
