Romances and the end of T.O.B.
If,at the end of T.O.B.,the PC is elevated to godhood, which of the love interests would be willing to accompany him/her?
For example,I can't see Aerie or Anomen wanting to take up residence in the Abyss.Viconia might, and maybe Jaheira. It's also possible that such relationships between mortals and deities are not appropriate or allowed.
Anyone else out there think that having a love interest would make a difference in the ending of the story,e.g. forsaking godhood for your partner.

If the PC becomes a God,why would he not make his romance interest a demi-god of some sort?(i.e. by taking him/her to the Valley of the Gods).Originally posted by Quecty:

There is no knowledge, that is not power...
Hmmm,I hadn't actually thought of that. The location of the Valley wouldn't be a secret among the other deities,so some other god(dess) the PC has done a service for as a mortal,e.g. Helm,Lathander,Eilistraae, would divulge its location.Originally posted by aVENGER2k:

My original question is,would the love interest be actually willing to leave their mortal life and all their friends behind?
I figure there should be an option to turn your back on the godhood. I mean, what if my paladin doesn't want to become a chaotic evil deity?
And besides that, didn't Cyric take over the position as God of Strife and Murder? Assuming that Black Isle is following Forgotten Realms canon (which frankly, I've always found exceedingly lame), I doubt Cyric will willingly give up the portfolio of Lord of Murder to one of Bhaal's children.

Not necessarily.Bhaal himself was an assassin, and already quite evil, before he was deified.Becoming a god didn't make him more evil than he already was, just more powerful. The god shapes the portfolio, not the other way around.Originally posted by Nikolai:

Anyway, the title "Lord Of Murder" probably doesn't refer to the portfolio, but to Bhaal himself. It likely reflects the way Bhaal carried out his duties as God Of Death.
As far as I know, Kelemvor is still God of Death. I don't think that position is open.Originally posted by Tamerlane:

No, I'm pretty sure Bhaal was god of murder. You'd have to read the "History of the Dead Three" to get the Black Isle take on it.
After the time of troubles Cyric was god of Death, Murder, and Strife, but Kelemvor took the realm of Death from him somehow.

Bhaal is the God of Murder. Consider the plotline, in which your PC is trying to avoid being killed by other children of Bhaal, and avoid embracing his heritage. If he does end up raised to godhood at the end of ToB, it would be a matter of personal defeat--so highly unlikely.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
