Fragarach and Scather?

I have read a lot about the two swords Fragarach and Scather.
And I'm wondering if the wielder must be chaotic good to be able to use it's abilities? My party is neutral good and I only have neutral and lawful good carachters. Is there any way that I can change my alligment?
I really want to be able to use these swords.

It works best in the hands of a CG character. It will work to a lesser degree for a CN or NG I believe, but it's still nice. It will actually harm a lawful character, I believe.
