Yes, for some

Welcome to the Banshee Forums!

Some gems (diamonds, emeralds, rogue stones, etc.) are used in upgrades from Cromwell - and from Cespenar in ToB. Stones like garnets, zircons, flamedance rings, etc. are just sold for cash.

Try the Item Upgrade Mod. It uses a lot of seemingly useless gems for improving weapons or armor. Also gems like emeralds, saphires, diamonds, pearls, rouge stones, etc are required by Caspenar for some of the ToB item upgrades.

Speaking of Gems...

What are the Beljuril gems used for? I've stumbled on two of them, and I was wondering if they have a use (aside from selling them).

Well...

I can think of one non-sales use. Highlight below for details.

Beljuril is needed to upgrade the Horn of Valhalla

This post contains minor spoilers!!!

Cool, thanks!

I hadn't started chaprter 3 until just last night. So I must have found the other one at one of these locations (I wish I could be more help):

The Windspear Hills, the Dragon's Lair (I don't think it's this one, though)

or

The Astral Prison (maybe)

or

The Cult of the Unseeing Eye Quest (in the Lower Reaches, where you fight the 'Eye'). I think I found it in the first room of this level, inside the pulsating thing on the ground. The Gem may have been randomly assorted there, but I'm not sure.

Sorry, but I don't know how to change the text color to black...

The second Beljuril Gem, is in the windspear dungeons, in a room just next to where you meet: The Captain, a troll and the hobgoblin, just wait just north of there and a secret passage will appear (there is also a bow +3 there, can't remember the name), but be prepared for a TOUGH fight, there are two stone golems and one Iron golem in there( the irongolem needs to be hit with +3 weapons or above)... So if you don't have the weapons don't go there!
