some one please help me!
i want to change the portraits in the game but the directions given in the manual and the web sites are too vague for me. i happen to be very computer illiterate and i need step by step guidance. i am trying to take some computer classes but they are always filled. will some one take pity on me?

To use custom portraits:
 • Create a directory in your BGII - SoA directory called portraits.
 • Download the portrait files from a site like Lady Nightshade's Custom Portraits into your portraits directory.
 • If the file is zipped (has the .zip extension), you will need to unzip it into the portraits directory.
 • In the game, go to the record screen, click on customize, click on appearance, then click on custom.
 • You will have to select both the large and small portraits by clicking on the portrait names in the list boxes.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

OK,

first you need two portraits a small (38x60 pixels, 8-bit color) and a large (110x170 pixels, 24-bit color) they don't have to be matching.

The files must be BMP format and the filenames must not be longer than 8 characters, the filename of the small portrait must end with an S that of the large with an L.

In the end you should have two files named something like:
malefmS.bmp and malefmL.bmp

Now you must place the files in the portraits folder of the BG2 main game directory.

Now you should be able to change the portraits in the character customization screen.

Note that the game itself will only let you change the portraits of your own characters, not the NPC's. If you want to change Nalia's portrait, say, then you need to download
Shadow Keeper

or some similar utility.
