IE only.

Hate Netscape except for the period Fibs mentioned. Mozilla sucked....dont like opera much...

Incidentally, for anyone who cares, you can download a free adware (not spyware) copy of Opera from their website, and a 30 day free trial version of Netscape from theirs. Installing 'em does nothing to your IE, which works just fine afterwards.

For example a build in e-mail program.
Mouse gestures (use the broser by making a special move with you mouse (takes some time getting used to))
And what i like best: when you use multiple screens, you only get one tab in your taskbar. The rest is inside opera.
Also it has some nice other options (popups in the background).

The only thing I miss is that it doesnt autofill in in for example google (is this clear?!?)

As Stilgar said. I really like the fact that I can load seven browser windows inside Opera with little more RAM than it costs me to load one IE window. And I can read an article, highlight words or links I want to check for further reference, bring up their windows in back, and keep on reading. I can save it all under a single bookmark, too, for quick retrieval.

Yea I like that feature too. Unfortunately, twice today I have tried to sign onto Yahoo and 4 times it told me I typed in the incorrect password. Both times I tried IE right after and had no problems. Kind of hard to have Opera as my main browser if I can't check my mail.

I have always been stuck using Microsoft operating systems for lack of a better alternative (that is, one that suits me), so I have also been stuck using Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer can view just about every page on the World Wide Web, I can open over a dozen browser windows without it crashing (although it uses huge amounts of memory for no explicable reason), and the people who make websites assume that I use Internet Explorer, so I can enjoy all the "goodies" they have to offer (although I could do without a lot of the "flash"-y crap). Does that mean I prefer Internet Explorer? I guess so, but I'm not enthusiastic about it and I'm resentful because I don't have a better choice. I've tried using other browsers (I used Netscape Navigator for nearly three years), but the world was made for Microsoft, so I've always had problems with other people's browsers. I think that Microsoft deliberately sabotaged Navigator, and they'd do the same thing to Opera if they thought they could get away with it.

Old Opera used to have that problem (i had it with hotmail), but the latest opera identifies as IE6.0. So it works on (almost) every site (except for the BOTB-site login)

I am using Opera 7 which I just dl 2 days ago and I assume its the latest version. Under quick preferences "Identify as MSIE6.0" is selected as you said. I hardly consider Yahoo a BOTB site. I think I will contact Opera.

hmm sounds good

kinda sounds like the same sorta stuff they use for palm pilots when writting letters and such...

the multiple screen thing(wow that sounds funky)....does it work the same way the AOL browser works?

It displays in several ways. You can set it up as a series of cascading screens, or tiled. Or you use the standard tabs, so that each screen is directly behind the next--just click on the tab to swap screens.

I'm "stuck" with IE currently. Before that faithful day (the day when IE got integrated with windows 32 ver and cause several probs on Netscape) I use Netscape. As for Opera & Mozilla I'm waiting for stable & good featured ones version

9 out of 10 times I use Opera, and IE chrashes more often then Opera.

ANother pro about opera, when you get a dozen e-mails from a certain forum that there is a reply in a topic, opera opens every link in a different window instead of all in one.

Opera?

Since I now have a second hard drive (and hence lots more space

) I have downloaded the trial version of Opera. So far I am really impressed, it seems much faster than I.E, and it looks like the features (once I figure out what they all do

) look pretty cool.

One thing I do notice is that the upper part of my browser is significantly reduced in terms of viewing. Is this because of the advertising in the upper right hand corner, and will my viewing area be expanded to 'I.E Size' if I buy a copy?

I'm also curious to hear about people's experience with Opera, hence why I dragged up this old thread

Here is a description from their website, looks interesting, though I know nothing about it

MyIE2 is an Internet Explorer based web browser that adds a lot of new features as well as a fresh new look to your standard Internet Explorer browser interface. Among the added features are a tabbed interface that allows you to quickly switch between multiple web pages and create groups of pages that you can launch with a single click. In addition, it offers several privacy features like cookie and history cleanup as well as an option to delete the typed address bar URLs (either all or only selected). There are many other features, most of them small, but very handy. For example, it supports URL aliases and keyboard shortcuts, quick proxy switching, auto-scrolling, network speed display as well as content filtering and a popup window killer. MyIE2 supports plug-ins (some come included).

I like Opera. Since switching to a dual-boot XP/98 system, I've been trying it out in tandem with IE6. I have to say that Opera has the speed and features that IE lacks, though the latter is more "uiniversal" thanks to Microsoft's omnipresence...for the moment.

A friend of mine uses it and he loves it. Seems it have a some features that he uses while surfing the net.

Me personally - I don't use such things -the only plug-in thingy I have is the google search toolbox with 1/5 of the functionality active that it offers.
