You need to ask him what it is he has to do in the gonvernment administration, I'm sorry I don't know the exact line because I play SoA in German
There's a somewhat funny bug in the German translation of that dialogue, he tells you the license costs 50000 Gold, but only takes 5000 from you if you accept. (or is that in the original version, too ?)

I think that may have been a typo they fixed with a patch because with my (Cheesy, I know) Kensai/mage he said 5000..

It's always been 5000.

As I said, that 5000/50000 typo is only in the German Version and it's still there with the latest patch (ToB 26498).

As you said, it was the German version. I missed that, and I stand corrected. :)

lol! Well I was feeling cheap regarding payment to the mages because I decided to head off to Spellhold ASAP so I could grab Sola and Immy for their respective romances, and I figured I could always SK a spell trigger scroll in later if absolutely necessary :D

Yes, and if you have Jaheira or Cernd in the party or if you can cast Insect Plague yourself they're laughable ;)

here is a naughty trick i learned from iron works...cast insect plague on a party member, before you cast a mage spell...the insect plague will actually jump to the nearest enemy!!! probably faster than jae casting the spell...and if they go invisible, it will still work... :p :p :p

insect plague cast on a green circle will always hop to the nearest red circle...

plan to test out some cheeses this run thru...along with a couple of beta testing mods...whew... :D
