*SPOILER* Scrambled eggs *SPOILER*

Post by Boris »

The first couple of times I played SoA, I was able to swap the Dragon Eggs without undue fuss - just used lots of Invis. & ran fast.

But in my last & current runs, as soon as I open the doors to the treasury, *all* the guards turn red, followed by the rest of the city. Now, I can just kill everyone & leave (as I did last time), but it is a very inelegant solution which I would prefer to avoid.

Does anyone know why this is happening? A prompt answer would be much appreciated, coz I'd like to finish this section tonight (GMT), without using the crude solution.

I don't think I'm doing anything different from the first time(s)...

BTW, I do have a few Mods installed (Ease, Item & a few Tactics), though I *think* I didn't on my last run, when I had the same issue.

Well

The easiest solution is to have the designated egg scrambler use sanctuary (the divine invis) - it doesn't break when you swap the eggs.

Otherwise, kill the egg guards sneakily without letting any of the other guards see you, then swap, axe the golems discreetly, and be on your merry way with none the wiser.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Kill the specially labeled egg guards at the door before opening it. The rest of the guards shouldn't notice a thing so long as you put the fake eggs there as soon as you grab the real ones.

Many thanks for the prompt responses.

The Sanctuary ploy didn't seem to work, though I've noted it for future reference (didn't realise it wasn't dispelled by doing stuff - well worth knowing). But bumping off the Egg Guards before entering seems to have done the trick, so Big Ta for that.

Wish I knew how I got away with it previously, mind - am pretty sure I didn't harm a fly! Maybe I was just faster...?

P.S. BTW, AgentX - don't suppose you're the Kiwi AgentX20 who used to ride with The Squad With No Name in EoC? If so, I'm the same Boris...

The difference is probably that you installed ToB. ToB changes the Drow so that they can see invisible characters. There is a bugfix for this at Baldurdash: Drow Egg Guards Make Ust Natha Hostile Fix.

I strongly suspect you're right, Mr. OfClubs - I didn't install ToB until I'd completed SoA the first time, but have always used it since.

I *thought* I had the full Baldurdash Fixpack installed, mind, so maybe I had (an) error(s) & didn't notice...?

Thanks again,

B.
