New character
I just finished the game for a second time with the uber munchkin (Now painful to the ears now, I know.) Kensai/Mage.. First time was with pure swashbuckler..
I wanted to go with a paladin this time and wield Carsomyr +5.. Which is best? I know tons of people like the inquisitor, dont know much about cavalier or undead hunter but I saw there was a solo guide for the undead hunter here so I rolled on one and got 96/108 tucked away in case I decide to play him.. Any suggestions?
*edit* By the way, Im talking about soloing though SoA and ToB (As soon as I get off my PC long enough to buy ToB)

Hrrmmm..
I can't speak to solo play, I always run full parties, but I tend to think that vanilla Paladin, Inquisitor or Undead Hunter would all potentially serve you well. The Inquisitor's True SIght and Dispel Magic will certainly serve you well in solo play, but the loss of spells is a bit of a drag (not that Paladin spellcasting is that stellar)
Since paladins cannot dual or multi-class, the kits have been pretty much balanced to the main class, rather than being rewards for single-classing.

Thanks for the info hehe.. Doesnt really bother me that they arent uber.. First character was a swashbuckler and I remember endless hours of gaming with him.. Kensai/Mage took me 3 days to beat game.
I think I will go with the undead hunter since I have already rolled him.. Only thing that bothers me is how he can only put 2 slots into 2 handed weapons.. Kind of used to the 5 with kensai.. Loved those 2 attacks per round
As for soloing him, I think I will be soloing him to the max level then adding chars one char at a time as they reach their max levels cus on my other chars they got enough xp to easily reach their max levels 3 times

I soloed a Stalker once. It's my fave kit becuase it can Backstab and has the staying power of a Ranger. I choose it because when I played a Theif, my most powerful attack was a Backstab, and I died after the Stab.
Tyreal of Loren is my name
Fighter Mages are my game
I like battling Orcs and Farts
And I'm only Half Grunger

Stalkers...
Stalkers are cool - especially as there are some VERY nice leather armours out there, even in the Vanilla game.
They are not, of course, Paladins, but Rangers, and there is a very solid Stalker NPC availabel, the often underrated Valygar - arguably the best point man in the game.

Well I too have just started an Undead Hunter, basically because I've never played with Paladins before. Too goody goody for me, but Undead Hunter sounds like it could be worth a shot. Well I'm out of the dungeon, but have yet to see Gaelan Bayle. Circus was easy as usual, but I'm wondering if anyone's got some tactics for a low level Undead Hunter in the Den of Seven Vales. I gave it a try and got hacked to bits. Rather quickly I might add. I really want the Ring of Invis. and I think there's a nice set of platemail on one of them. Maybe I'll give it a few more tries later, but chances are I'll have to wait till I'm a little stronger.

Well what level are you? If you can afford to buy the ring of air control from ribald and maybe have an oil of speed you should be able to do it. Dont forget to use draw upon holy might.

Nope, it's an inn, in waukeen's pramenade, with a rather difficult encounter for any soloer, especially a level 9 Undead Hunter like myself. But you get some good stuff out of it, especially if that wussy thief doesn't take off before you gut him. And don't worry, I Draw Upon Holy Might and Pro. Evil before any battle I know will give me some trouble. So any ideas aside from the obvious gain a few more levels and then go back?

Stop the thief from taking off by blocking the doorway. First of all I would very much recommend investing in a ring of air control if you can afford it. This will prevent the mage and his familiar from casting spells at you and improve your ac aswell. Also you need oil of speed and ranged capabilities. Start of by concentrating all your efforts on the thief and block the doorway if he says he's out of there. Then take down mencar and smaeluv with your bow, hit and run tactics. If you do it downstairs the guard can help you a little bit. If you want to cheese it buy a gem bag and recharge your ring of aircontrol. Otherwise sleep and go improved invis again and go and go back up and take out the mage and familiar. Should work this way.

Well I neglected to put any profs into ranged weapons so I guess I'll have to do some SKing. Bow or Crossbow? I'm thinking crossbows, cause to me it kinda just fits with an undead hunter(better than a bow at least), but are there any good ones out there? I never really use 'em so I don't remember.

Yeah firetooth is great and also crosswbow of searing available at ribald is good. What other weapons are you using. I would go for bow or crossbow if you use twohanded swords and sling if you use sword and shield.
Shortbows might be better than crossbows but as you said crossbows probably fits the character better.

I'm using Two Handed Swords(Sword of Chaos at the momment), and have profs in Halberds too. I think I had one extra and threw it in Hammers. I could put that one and one from halberds into x-bows. And I have SOA only so Firetooth is outta the question. thanks.
