Game crashes at same spot!!!!

Ok I just bought this game and im very dissapointed... When i try to get out of the ship by opening the hatch to seyda neen, the screen goes black and the game crashes. I get this Ati error report blah blah blah. My graphics card is a Radeon 9600 XT, so i dont know wut the problem is.... please help!

Have you tried downloading the latest patch for morrowind and the latest drivers for your graphics card?

edit: vvv I'd still try to update it.

well i downloaded the patches for morrowind and im not sure if i have the latest drivers...

i got my crad at Christmas so i assume it's the latest one (came on a cd)

That same thing ALWAYS used to happen to me before I got a new video card and more RAM...

There are a lot of good threads on this with several tips and fixes.

Did you do a search?

ok ill check out those threads...

my system specs are:
1 gig ram
2.4 ghz pentium 4
ati radeon 9600 XT 128 mb

I also just did a complete reinstall of windows, reinstalling all the drivers and everything, and it still crashes when i open the hatch to seyda neen.. it just goes black and the monitor goes to sleep...

please help me!!!
