sorc+dragon+palemaster???

Post by Promil »

Is it possible to mix classes of sorcerer/bard, dragon disciples and a palemaster??
In my opinion this mix would be very powerfull( high AC, STR,INT,CHA,spells etc.)
So can I mix this and get all bonuses.
Maybe better choice is sorc/dragon/arcane archer????
What you think?? Better is high lvl melee character or high lvl magic???
I have 19lvl sorceress and i dont know what i'm suppose to do with her in future.I'd apriciate every help!!

it depends on what you want to go for.

IMO, Dragon Disciple seems built as a novelty.. it's neither a melee nor a caster class, nor does it have any particularly effective or special abilities of it's own that are usable for either, aside from the fire breath. Everything else can be pretty much duplicated by taking fighter levels (via bonus feats) and with better hit points. Don't even get more spells per day, which would make sense considering the prestige class is exclusive to casters (such as the palemaster). A good choice only if you still get a kick out of roleplaying, since it's not like those wings are doing much for you otherwise.

Haven't dabbled with Palemaster yet, although I understand it to be a very potent prestige class overall, particularly for those who dabble in skelly summons.

Trying to maintain a Sorc/Pale/Disciple hybrid will most likely water down all your abilities pretty badly, so I'd say pick two and stick with it

RDD is particularly nasty if you TRIPLE-class to get it.
Combine any primarily melee class with one level of Sorc by 5th and you can start down the road as RDD. They increase BAB as a thief and increase their stats to incredible levels (+8STR, +2INT, +2CHA, +2CON) besides the normal increases at every 4th level. Combine this H&S'er with Gauntlets of Ogre Power (available in Luskan) and the Uthgart amulet and a PC starting with a 14STR has a 22STR at RDD10 and the game only allows a mod of +10 (go ahead and ask how I know this :D )
On the flip side, you could give a primary sorc one level of Ranger to get the Ambidexterity & Two Weapon Fighting feats along with access to all martial weapons and go the unarmored route with a natural AC boost of +4 by L10-RDD.
I just took out the white dragon with this character (RDD8/Sorc6/Ran1) without any help from Daellon (fraidy-cat turned tail and ran when confronted by the beast) or summoned Dire Wolf (ditto) or my familiar (fire mephit died on the first blast of cold air).
Of course, I made sure to first:
  1. ceate the Ring of Regeneration (+4) in Beornna's Well
  2. buy the Greater Swordsman's Belt (DRed 20/slashing) in Luskan
  3. buy Gauntlets of Ogre Power in Luskan
  4. wear the Amulet of the Ages (DRes 30/- Cold) with those items in the fight.
  5. use a Mercy Killer rapier (fire damage) in my off-hand
  6. use the Gladiator's Sword (acid damage) in the other (both weapons were random items).
I am seriously thinking about using similar tactics when confronting Klauth (after getting RDD10 & immunity to fire) only using an Ice Reaver in my off hand.
It may be better to be a live jackal than a dead lion but it is better still to be a live lion - and usually easier.

My latest experiment of interest was a fighter/sorc hybrid.. if you get a 12 fighter/ 8 sorcerer, you get four attacks as if you were a 17th level fighter. It's debilitating in trying to triple class as a fighter/sorcerer/Red Dragon Disciple. Furthermore, I really don't know of any modules that will take a character beyond level 25-26, which is where Underdark leaves off mostly..

Personally, I just go for 12 fighter/8 Sorcerer, then amp up my sorcerer levels and try to get Improved combat casting. After that, AutoQuickened spell is a pipe dream, and I've tossed around the idea of taking 8-10 levels of Dragon Disciple afterwards, but the game doesn't go that high.

I really can not see triple classing as a fighter/sorcerer/RDD through the lower levels, since you need the fighters' base attack bonus and all the spell power you can get your hands on.. whether you go dual wield/double weapon or sword/shield.

Level cap might very well be 40, but haveing completed the expansion twice, the level you end up on is about 25-30.

Last time I went through I went through with a paladin/CoT that I played through the original NwN + SoU + HotU and I did not break the 30 mark.

Don't plan your characters for more then a maximum level of 25ish - unless you plan to play the game through several times with the same character.

Just some advice.

the RDD will probably be best for bard characters who want to be better at combat with no change to base attack increase per level, better fort save for less reflex, and a tremendous boost to STR, for better hits. at least that is what it is supposed to be, i'm not sure if it is actually is. i haven't counted yet.

the palemaster is a good class for those necromancers, but i personally feel the "graft" feats being not much of use. u will not be hitting much since u'r mainly a spellcaster, so what if i can kill with that hit? unless u make a touch attack, of which i then stand corrected. but i believe there's a fort save right? so those who u can ignore AC for thouch attacks (easier hit) will likely make the save, while those u cannot make the fort will no be so easy to hit afterall (like my +15 AC[dodge] rogue). somehow i feel that only the skels will be good, but a pure sorceror of decent CHA who takes up a few summon spells...

well, just my 1 cent..
