Planar Sphere

I remember reading a long time ago that as a mage you could make your own spells or equipment or something like that. (This before bg2 came out.) So anyway my first time playing a mage...and wondering what purposes the Planar Sphere has besides....the quests....or to say "Hey, I've got the planar sphere!" So um...yeah.

well... (I'm saying that a lot...)
If you are a mage after getting the sphere a cowled Wizard will show up and give you a proposition, You get 3 Apprentices to train (In magic don´t get some funny Ideas) thy will basically create stuff for you every 4 days, DON´T get Greedy about the Stuff, After Creating 2(our 3) thy get graduated and after some other quest you get If you have The sphere one of them will show up and make potions for Free(FOR FURTHER INFORMATION PLEASE EXAMINE GAMEBANSHEE BALDUR`S GATE II - QUESTS - CLASS SPECIFIC QUEST - MAGE )

Yeah, I know that much. I guess I was just hoping for more... ::sigh::

I am a mage and have done the Planar Quest - but I didn't bring Lavok outside until after I talked to the knights. So now then knights don't want to go home, no Teos or apprentices come.... :-(
What to do?
