Why? she's no better a singer than he is, and her songs suck.

I think the display was pathetic.
And I'm surprised at all the criticism- so, a bit of nudity got on screen. I don't think a bare breast ever hurt anybody.

Ahem - I'm pretty sure Sleepys line of thought were a bit futher down the gutter then what you seem to have picked up on (I hope so anyways :D - otherwise my mind is to far down the gutter :o )

Well - for the nudity - you have to remember that the "public" america often have a nice double standard about that exact topic.

Indeed - hypocracy knows no national, racial, or religious boundaries.

The issue with the half time show is that the Super bowl is televised in prime time - this half time show took place a bit after 8:00pm Easten standard time. And it is on commercial television which is more strictly regulated by the FCC. The FCC is rightly concerned about public nudity on commercial TV during prime time hours that can be viewed by unsuspecting children and their parents. There is validity in this - Many people watch the Super Bowl with their children. They have no reason to expect that public nudity will be broadcast during a football game - in fact they expect that this will not happen.

If the game is on a pay per view channel or after a certain time of night the restrictions are much less stringent.

Anyway - one could certainly argue that nudity is harmless for children to view. But I can understand folks being a bit upset if they are watching a football game with their pre-teen children and without warning they are forced to have a discussion with their kids about sex. :o

Well - cheerleaders bouncing around in next to no clothes might be the same issue, and I doubt that dosen't cause flack.
Also the violent nature of the game itself is disturbing to some, and I'd expect many complain about that also. And how long did it even last and/or was displayed? A few seconds?
I serverly think people overreacted according to what I've read on various news sources.

Possible it is simply because I come from a more open-minded country that feel an event like that is ... well, daily life. Europe and indeed scandinavia might be more relaxed when it comes to such matters.

Also - I was wondering - did the streaker appear on american television? Was fun to see - nobody seemed to know what to do untill a Patrios player shoulder tackled the guy :D

The whole breast deal is over done here. It lasted like half a second, was not close-up, and even the people who saw it wondered if they really had seen it. If you blinked, you missed it, it you didn't, you likely still didn't see anything.

Yeah, soccer is real fluid until they have take a riot break. :D Reminds me of a Simpsons episode where the town riots at a soccer (or football, if you like) game because the sport sucks. :p Groundskeeper Willy and some Scottish buddies decided to enter the fray and show them how it's done ("Ach! They call this a soccer riot? Come on lads, let's take 'em to school!").

The Superbowl was cool, though I'm not really into sports. I did make a couple bucks though (note to the kids reading this, gambling is wrong). The titillating halftime show was nice though. Image

Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

No - we didn't get to see the streaker - damn!

Again - most certainly this whole issue is blown way out of proportion. I was just pointing out the context of the controversy. I personally am not afraid of a bit of nudity - and I have small children.

However - I can understand someone who does not want their children to see a naked breast being upset when they tune into a program where they have a reasonable expectation that this will not happen - only to have the situation forced upon them.

It was most certainly a tasteless display - and while I do agree that it is ridiculous - on the other hand I am not feeling sorry for the negative publicity that this has event has afforded Miss Jackson. On the other, other hand - that is probably what the little media whore was looking for in the first place. ;)

First off, Janet Jackson is ugly. Im sorry, Ive never had a thing for her, and still dont.

Secondly, I was lucky enough to have missed that fiasco...I watched ESPNews during halftime as they counted down to the 2nd half. Janet Jackson+Justin Timberlake=Tybs changing channels and watching sports highlights

Next-I actually kind of liked the first half. While I liked the scoring, the stinty hard nosed defenses were exciting, and watching the Panthers get shut down by the Pats D...that was fun. But I liked the scoring too. I think this is my favorite superbowl Ive witnessed (though the first superbowl I watched was only 9 years ago--Pittsburgh vs Dallas, which along with many of the superbowls of the late 90's, was a complete dud)

And going ever forward-Tom Brady deserved the MVP, though he may not have been the best player in the game. Thats the way the Pats work. No one sticks out, they just flat out win. I would have probably given the MVP to Brady or Vrabel.

And more yet-Vinitieri, yeah, I think youre right there, HLD. He'll be known for his clutch kicks, and will go to the Hall of Fame. Im hopeful about that.

And lastly-Greetings Mah. Hope everything is cool with you.

Bad publicity? No such thing. Janet's face is all over the news......like it hasn't been in years.

@Ty...actually, I was really thinking that this year, I was finally gonna get to see my long awaited 6-3 dream game where everyone left the game on a stretcher....

Sigh....there's always next year :(

Perfect time to start of a "tort reform" thread.

I would do just that if I thought the idea had a snowballs chance in hell of coming to fruition... :(
