Redoran Helm thieves guild quest

I was supposed to steal a house redoran special helm for Aengoth the Jeweler.i stole it got caught an payed the gold, it took it out of my inventiory and its not in the same place on top of the closet in miners bedroom. Does anyone know how to get another one?

go to the nearest fort/census office and unlock the chest labled "evedance" and in side will be the helm well should be any way

Any other stolen items they took from you should be there too. Last time I got caught they took about 100 lbs of items out of my inventory

I always drop everything before the guard comes and talks to me so I don't end up having to go to the evidence chests and stealing everything back. Which would again, risk my ass.
