question on weapon proficiencies

Post by El_Blitzo »

I need to know why this is happening, or if it's even supposed to be happening. I started a 3 member party with Anomen, Valygar, and myself, who is right now an 18/16 fighter/mage. She has 4 proficiency pts into longsword and 2 into flail/morningstar. On her most recent lvlup I tried to add another pt into flail and it wouldn't let me! She's half fighter so she should be able to fully specialize right? I've never tried muticlasses before so maybe this is some rule that I've never heard of. If it helps, I've downloaded every bugfix from baldurdash as well as the grandmastery patch and several of the "improved difficulty" battle mods. A quick answer would be appreciated thanks!

My guess is that your last level up was for your mage levels, thus limited to mage proficiencies. Though, it has been some time since I've played using the 2ed rules, so I may be wrong.

Multis may only Specialize (two stars) in a weapon. Therefore I find it very strange that you've managed to put four stars in Long Sword. Maybe you used ShadowKeeper? Duals, however, may put three or more stars into a weapon, but only after they have regained their Fighter class (if that was the first class).

Did you uninstall a mod? Ease of Use allows 5*'s for multi-class fighters. If you removed it (or reinstalled your game without it) you would be back to the standard 2*'s for multi-class fighters.

I imagine other mod's will allow 5*'s as well.

ewww

Actually, I did use Shadowkeeper, cause I had originally put 2 pts in longsword, 1 in hammers, and 3 into 2-weapon-style. After I finished the first dungeon, I changed my mind cause I wanted Anomen to use the best weapon in the game. So I rearranged her profs without realizing she wasn't allowed more than 2 pts in a proficiency. Thanks for enlightening me guys, I'm gonna fix this asap, never intended to be a cheater :(

On a similiar note... I've got a little question to ask.

I dualed my berserker to cleric. Before I dualed I had something like 3 stars in flails, 2 in hammer. When I dualed I put prof points into stuff like sling, maces, quarterstaff, etc. After I reactivated my first class and got proficiency points according to cleric progression tables I found that I could put them into warhammer and have 3 stars in hammers and eventually grandmaster flails. Is this normal? Kinda felt weird doin this...

Yes..

Yes, a dual classed fighter will still be able to progress to GM, though the manual says they're frozen. Funky, eh?
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.
