appears to be busy

this is a freeakin lame bug thats irritating me for wqquite a time now.
it was never really a problem, i sometimes can't talk to certain people. they appear to be busy...
i once had the bug with the golem who opened the doors in irenicus dungeon so that wasa lame but it was at the start.
now aran linvail appears to be busy
is there a way to solve this?
i dont mind to cheat or something but i dont want to mis the quests aran linvail bring(spellhold etc)
the complete sentence it says is:
Cannot initiate dialoge. <character name> appears to be busy.
Please help!

This is a well-known bug. The official Throne of Bhaal patch will fix it.

It's cause you have windowsXP (or a similar version)
Patches:
Shadows of Amn
Throne of Bhaal

Only install the SoA-patch if you have ONLY SoA, if you have ToB install only the ToB-patch.
