Interesting Discovery...

Post by Kool69 »

While I was picking out my soon to be home in Caldrea, I stumbled upon a certain woodelf's house and it looked perfect. I had wanted a "small" house without having to kill anybody and since he was wandering the streets he wasn't in his house. Mr. Nedhead or w/e's hosue had a 30 lock so I dropped my stuff, unlocked it, and paid my 5 gold for my new house. (made about 1000 gold off the loot) P.S. check behind the head of the bed for a few goodies... Well it just so happens to be that there is an entrance to an ansectrial (I know I didn't spell that right) tomb. I was like WOW!, saved my game and proceeded with my level 1 character into the tomb. First there was stairs leading down to a door. Saved into another file, then opened it. It was a large square room but unforunately there was a skeleton archer who killed me in two hits :( . Anyways I was wondering if anyone else has ever found this place before. And P.S. please don't tell me what lay beyond that room, for I intend to find out as soon as my skills are up to the task ;) .

Sorry

there isn't anything good in there. There is a crappy magic ring which is worth around 5 gold. Thats it. the only reason I would suggest even attempting to unlock the house is to raise your security skill. There is book next to the head of the bed that raises your security skill, and that combined with ipening the door to the house, the secret trap door, and the chest in the tomb, there is no reason to explore it. Nothing good in it.

Do the monsters respawn? If not it can be my new big basement!

Slight spoiler - it's quested

To be a bit spoilerish, there's a quest around that home. So be careful about messing it up. ;)

Ummm, well just curious, does it involve the main quest, guild quest, or house quest? And if I do go in the tomb will it screw it up?

Morrowind isn't desgned to penalize charecters who explore, as long as they don't throw away any important things or kill any important people. As long as you didn't do that, I can't imagine searching the tomb will mess up the quest

I belive that it's either a quest from the Mages Guild or from the Temple.

Actually, this is a shrine sergeant quest from the Imperial Cult.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

You get the quest to rid the tomb of the ancestral ghost. All you need to do is kill it and then tell Nedhelas that you "killed" the ghost. The skeleton champion respawns. I don't think it would mess up the Imperial Cult shrine sargeant's quest if you killed it in advance. You can use Nedhelas' house for your own if you like because he never goes in it. This is one of my fav places to set up shop. I am currently using the crypt for my kip. Used the furniture/house plug-in to buy some tables, shelves, bed, etc. to put my alchemy gear and excess loot. Put a big roaring fire place in it, an alter and a forge. Its really quite cozy with the wall hangings and throw rugs. Since I wear a CE nighteye garment I don't really need lights but I do put any extra lanterns and candles around the place. I like being greeted by my personal skeleton champion whenever he respawns. He'll respawn right away if you get rid of his body or over a few days if you don't. He always has a silver claymore on him and a shield. Never seen a skeleton archer down there though.

Another nice place to set up shop in Caldera is on the third floor bedroom of the inn. There's an imperial guard on the first floor who offers some nice training in longswords and two other skills and there's an Argonian on the second floor (in a small bedroom) that is offers training as well. The private third floor bedroom has a lot of loot (silverware, etc), a king size bed, tables, chests, etc. No one ever goes up there so I use it as a place to rest occassionally. It would make a good home base if you don't mind the two flights of stairs.

Check out this thread where I first discussed using the Nedhelas crypt for a base.

If I leave items in a tomb will they stay there? On ground? In chests? Or will the chest respawn and take out my items stored in them?

Items left on ground, in chests/urns, anything will be fine - they can stay there for the duration of the game. Only times that items disappear is if you leave them on a dead body. When the body disappears in a few days the items go with it.

No - for the duration of the entire game, NOT just your play session. In other words, until you finish the game you're playing and start a new game. Or until you delete all your current game save files. You can save, quit and reload again and again and your items will still be there. They will not go away - period. No one will take them, they won't rust away, whatever.

Ok because I did have one slight problem when I put 3 items, 3 quest items, into the chest beside the bed, went into the tomb, and came back out and they were gone... weird... I just reloaded and went along my way....

All you guys say that there was a ring down there, but when I went down there, there was some c**py amulet  An what really looks cool is if you put all your like 'artifacts' along the walls and put like a candle here, and a candle there, it looks really cool if aren't using like night-eye enchantment or spell!

Well, you know how items sometimes replenish themself in containers? Well, thats what happened. The chest got rid of anything in it and replanished itself!
