Perhaps it has something to do with the Xbox version. I play on a PC and get attacked a lot, especially in the early part of the game. I've got half the armorers and pawnshop merchants in the game dressed in assassin regalia now. Kind of creepy. I don't sell them the helms as I like to see there faces. Assassin armor is completely pitch black and the helm covers the entire face. Only the eyes show. The assassins are always dark elfs. A complete set of their armor sells for closes to 5000 gold if you use the Creeper. Their carved ebony darts are worth 2000 gold each - I think its supposed to be their calling card. At level 5 they will almost certainly kill you without much struggle - maybe the Xbox version is trying to delay their appearance until you reach a certain level where you stand a chance. If they get the first hit in with a paralyzing jinksword its all over without a fight - you simply die. If they have the poison sword you will die more slowly. Later on they come in 2-men teams with adamantium jinkswords that both poison and paralyze. I've had some success with hitting them with a drain fatigue spell (innate spell for an Imperial) and then boxing them to death. Of course your hand to hand fighting skill has to be pretty good - above 50 for sure. That's why I came up with the bunkbed trick killing them with the bow. I got jumped in Sadrith Mora when I rested in the Commona Tong house. I was attacked by two assassins with the adamantium jinkswords - I survived with hardly anything left on my health bar. The fact that I rested with my daedric wakazashi jinksword in my hand helped greatly. Probably best they haven't shown up in your game yet. Your iron sparksword and chitin armor aren't going to hack it, especially with level 5 fighting skills.

What kind of char are you playing?
