race switching

b4 i get too far into the game like i did on xbox, can i race switch? i'm 1/2way through mages guild and i just remembered that beasties can't wear helms or boots (so my all daedric/glass/ebony combo doesn't look as cool). is race switching as easy as opening the ess. and clicking change race? or is there some scripting you have to do-because my es3 construction set doesn't work either
