Athlon XP 2400

Post by slacker2 »

I am thinking of upgrading my current cpu, which is an AMD 1.4. I am probably gonna go with a XP 2400, but when I went to newegg to see what the price was there were 2 different kind of cpu. One was a "thoroughbred" and the other was a "thorton". I was wondering if there is any differnce between the 2 chips and if so which the better one to choose.

Current Specs.

Personally, I'd look for a BArton. Best one out there, IMHO.

Just a word of caution. If you've never upgraded your PC hardware (aside from Vid. cards) make sure you're mother board will support the processor you want. I've had some nasty experiances with that in the past.

I have already checked that. All I would have to do is update my bios so my mobo would recognize the chip.
