Me and my brother played bg2 with 2 fighter/mage. When we was through underdark we got MAX EXP POINTS and couldn`t lvl up any more...
Can u play BG2 SoA with 2 characters and actually clear the game?
Can u get MAX EXP in ToB?
Is it worth playing BG2 with 2 characters?

Difficult to answer if it is worth it for you. I find smaller parties quite enjoyable. Why not play with two different characters though? Maybe fighter/mage/thief and ranger/cleric.

If you have ToB, install it right away, it gives you a higher experiencecap.
Else download an experiencecap remover. I dont know where to get one, but i believe one is included in the EasyOfUse-mod from weidu.org (if you dont want the rest, you can only install the exp-cap-remover)
You can play and finish the game with 2 or even 1 character

I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

like i said, download easy-of-use from http://www.weidu.org/main.html and only install the exp-cap-remover or any other components you might like.
(for 2character games i recommond the infinite stacking)

You can actually finish the game with a solo character.
I've just done that with a crippled blade (couldnt get any spell better than 6th level) and my progress is stated on a thread (soloing a bard - spoilers 4 sure)
I finished the game with a Barbarian, a fighter thief and a Fighter mage.
My next run solo will be a Druid, and then a Priest.
