dual class question

Post by ceabug »

i have just started a new char as a barbarian and want to dual class him to a mage.my problem is the the dual class button is never active. i am now level 10 and still am not given the option to dual class. Is this because barbarians cannot or some other reason? any help would be appreciated

Barbarians can't dual to anything unforunately.
The only classes that can dual class to a mage are Fighters, Thieves and Clerics (and their sub classes/kits).
Though Barbarians are very similar to Fighters they don't have the ability to dual class, it's the same case with Monks and Sorcerors.
There are three kinds of people that no one understands: geniuses, madmen and guys that mumble.

I'm not sure about it, never tried it, but can one hack it with shadowkeeper, smile and go SoA with a hacked Barbarian/mage? It is worth a shot.

I wouldn't dual class the barbarian to a mage even with SK or by editing the dualcalss 2DA file. For some reason you wont be able to cast spells from scroll which is pretty crap.
Go for a berserker dualed to mage instead, awesome charcter!!

A note...

All valid duals must also be valid multis, just so you know...

Yea, go for a Berserker/Mage. That was my first solo attempt and it was quite easy. Wait till level 13 to dual him though. And if you can grab the Staff of the Magi, even though that weapon comboed with that character is ridiculous, it's fun.

There are certain restrictions when dueling:

Race - only humans can duel class.

Stats - any character must have the minimum stats for any class to which they want to duel.

Alignment - Thiefs/ Palladins require appropriate alignments to be available.

Specifics - There also exist some specific restrictions based on the inital class. There is a list in this sites resources.

Hope that helps.
