wizard spells

Post by davejohnxxx »

I have a Level 7 Wizard who cannot learn new spells. During levelup there are a number of spells highlighted in white or yellow and some yellow rectangles under his spell list but none of the new spell can be transferred to his list. He has very few spells available. Any ideas?? Thanks

Wizard Help

I had the same problem also even at level 10 I still had 2 highlighted blocks that I could not fill one in L-4 and 1 in L-5 spells. If I am not mistaken, what causes this to occur is when a feat which alters the original spell casting ability, such as "Highten Spell" has been selected for your wizard. Highten Spell, allows you to cast spells as though they were a higher level and I feel pretty certain that this is why you lose some slots at higher levels.

I played with trying to fill those slots for awhile to get something to fill them with, the best I could do was fill the L3 with Clairvoyance. But I lost out on 4 & 5. However, at that time, I chose to specialize in a certain school of magic (forgetting now which), so my choices were limited. Prehaps the next level up you get you can save before you LU and randomly pick spells and see if you can find which ones will fill them.

Unfortunatly, it is a matter of trial and error, since they themselves are not described very well. When you get one that shows up in yellow text, after you have LU and assign spells to learn, those are the ones that will fill your yellow slots. It is a pain in the rear, and very frustrating to get so far and only to realize that ya messed yourself up in the long run, my opinion only, of course! But this does also mean that you will miss out later. It seems like a "pay me now or pay me later" sort of deal.

I know that this doesn't help your frustration level. I got so totally livid that I just started a new game LOL. I'm a slow learner, but it finally sunk in! I no longer pick schools of magic or alteration feats with which to increase my spell casting abilities!

Good Luck! :( ;)
