New to Morrowind
Tee hee, I have an army of cliff racers The spell that allies monsters lvl 20 for 3600 seconds, uses 1 charge out of 500. Simply called Friendly Ring, made in editor just to have fun with
altough it gets harder and harder to catch cliff racers before my cliffies kill them because after you get about 50 its hard to tell the difference lol

I used to hate going to weddings because the old people would always say,"You Next! You Next!" Now I go to funerals and tell them the same thing.

I'm with Bloodstalker on this one
I hate cliff-racers, dont care how easy it is to pick them off now, (but do have vague memories of the thrill of my first few!) I prefer netches to practise marksmanship on, though they aren't mean and sorta pretty in their own way......
- I try to avoid all quests into that sand-stormed horrible section, coz there are so many of the &*($# things! But then I must be unlucky, I always seem to hit those sand-storms and can never see them coming
And they seem to stalk me just outside Daedra ruins when I'm trying to be sneaky on Atronachs.....
Like mosquitoes - they can be very annoying little biters....
I must raise my Luck sometime....
And I'm with Dorian and Bloodstalker on this one too..... Morrowind is one of the best "balanced" RPG games I've ever played.... and I been playing them a long while, won't say how long - LOL - but before there were computers, let alone ones with high-definition graphics and super-expensive vid cardsAnd Dorians right, any class is more than able to be successful, and without all the class restrictions, you can wind up able to do pretty much anything you want after awhile anyway
Many RPG games are biased towards one theme or another, usually fighting classes - and in some
games, magic-using is so weak (or very difficult) as to be almost unplayable.
Not so in Morrowind, the "balance" between the three streams of Magic, Fighting, Thief/Assassin classes is so good that none have an advantage. Its all in what role you feel you have most fun playing around with!
.. you can even change your mind and combine them, you dont have to stay "true" to your original choices of skill-mix later on -
but its time-consuming building up skills you didnt start out high in, but thats a minor matter to me..... just having the ability to do it, is a plus. In some other games, you also get this capacity to switch classes etc, (or be a "mush-pot") but usually at the cost of high game penalties, and/or having to temporarily do without some skills between class-switches.
Though I guess some "purist" RPG gamers find this a down-side - but in Morrowind you dont have to take advantage of the "easy" routes if you don't want to
If you have a strong desire for a "challenge" - then play a weak race, in magic-use, never wear armour, and use hand-to-hand combat, and with low starting mana (magicka), and put all magic skills in Miscellaneous, and never use Trainers...... ohhh....and put the difficulty level up to Max in the Options...
Enjoy -

I concur. I for one hate all these strict-class games. They make less sense to me than undead silver-dragons in a cave watching black evil elves. And that makes REALLY little sense to me.
Because I am in for reality (in midst of all the sci-fi/fantasy), it seems as logical to me with a warrior that can't learn spells or a mage that cannot fight lika, say, an university professor who just CAN'T learn to use a gun. Ever. No matter how many he buys, trains with etc. Or a police-officer who can become a god with the stick, but is chronically illiterate. Can't even learn to play with Lego (tm). Humans are far more complex than that. I haven't touched a "true class"-rpg since I got Morrowind. I pained myself through a bit of NWN after I finished Gothic a couple of times, but I never finished it (NWN, that is). I can't be bothered. It aint worth it.
I also concur on the cliff-racer thing. Blasted things are always around when you least need them. Sometimes I'm attacked by 3-4 at once!

One of the many things I like about Morrowind is the sense of reality that it offers on all levels. The fact that different NPCs react to you on an individual basis makes obvious sense. I also appeciate the need to repair weapons and armor; again, it is entirely logical (if somewhat irritating should your sword need fixing while in a middle of a dungeon and your repair skills are almost useless )
I am sure I will come to find the cliff raceers annoying in the extreme, but at this point they have helped me in finally reaching level 2... No doubt, if I actually completed some quests I would level faster, but wandering around and admiring the sunsets while beating up the occasional hound holds a certain draw at the moment

Thanks for this tip. I managed to obtain the sword by imbibing an invisibility potion. The thing is.. it might be more usefull just to sell... The 500 charges are great, as are the attack values, but those charges drain *extremely* rapidly. I went down to 250 charges after just a few hacks at a Kwama Forager... And unfortunately, it takes *ages* for the sword to recharge..if your at suran, go to one of the gaurd tower. At the top floor there is a bed, under the bed there is a nice sword. Sword of the White Woe. I use it and Im level 20 (Havn't found anything better yet :-( ) It may be hard to get because there is a guard there.
... So I am quite reliant on my Viper Blade as a back up. It only has 20 charges and a lower attack, but it takes no time for them to refuel, and that poison damage is highly efficient.
So given that the Sword of White Woe is worth 17000 coins I may just sell it when I encounter the Creeper or Mud Crab. ...

Not so fast
I checked out the game reviews and they all say the interface for the combat is really clunky. That was enough to curb my interest in it.

Heres a fun thing to do in Seyda Neen to build your skills and get you some free armor and weapons. When you come out of the door in Seyda Neen where the guard gives you the notes to take to Cosaides in Balmora, there is another locked door to a tower right in front of you. Go around back of that building by the river and jump up on the rocks. Try scaling that wall. There are a couple of spots that you can climb using the jump and forward buttons. You will fall off a lot, but once you find the spot (its on the rounded wall protrusion area) keep at it. This will build your acrobatics quickly. Just rest when exhausted. Once you can climb the wall try to jump to the roof (save if you suceed to this point) and go to the roof peak. Now follow the roof peak back across to the roof of where the guard was with the note. Keep going back until you see the bacony with the door. Drop down to the balcony and go in the unlocked door. Now loot the place while the patroling guard is not looking. Keep what armor and wepons you want and sell the rest to the innkeeper. Repeat until there's nothing left.
For some reason I get stuck in the roof everytime I try... And strangely the "fixme" command doesn't move me at all. Oh the cruelty.

Installing BloodMoon over "A Good Cottage"
Last night, sick of the journal layout, I decided to install Tribunal so I could take advantage of the better organised journal. Everything works fine with the "Good Cottage" plug-in I am using, which I downloaded at :
http://www.gamersroam.com/modules.php?n ... eA&show=10
I am wondering though, since I would like to be able to make map notations, how my cottage mod will work with BloodMoon. Has anybody tried this?
I looked at the mod details but there are no comments about compatability issues at all.

It should work. However, after installing Tribunal, open up the plug-in in the Construction Set and save it without making any changes, to update it. Make sure you have both the Morrowind and Tribunal .esm's loaded when you do this.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

Thanks Sojourner! It seems fine. Though I keep getting replicas of the Grand Masters Alchemy set that came with the cottage when I return after an absence... This isn't serious or anything, but they are cluttering up my digs, so maybe I'll just donate them to the mage's guilds or something
Hmmm... that Dark Brotherhood assasin's armor set almost makes it feel as though I'm cheating I now have an AC of 54, as opposed to the 20 or so provided by the Chitin stuff

You don't need Bloodmoon to make map notations. Tribunal allows this.Originally posted by dragon wench

Thanks! I realised this last night.. I had been trying to make notations on the world map rather than the local map.. duh... Oh well, I'll eventually get to Bloodmoon anyway, so may as well have it installedOriginally posted by Gwalchmai
