My buglist (if anyone is interested :)

Post by SirAvatar »

Well, I bought the game a week ago, after I played the demo, which was rather good, but only to be very disappointed by the numerous bugs that should have been fixed before release...

I think most of them are somehow already mentioned here but in case someone of the ToEE delevopers are reading this:
  • Using weaponslots bugged. Using 1 for sword, putting a bow into 2 causes 1 also to have the bow!?
  • Same goes for putting in shield -> messes up completely. This combined completely nullifies the use of multiple weaponslot configurations
  • Using goodberries: after use they are still in inventory and cannot be used anymore. Need to manually drop them OR
  • NPC get loot first (which they don't or can't use). To prevent it (and even prevent their OWN encumberance since you cannot drop their items) fill them completely up with items of weight 1 (the goodberries for example)
  • Dismissing spells -> doesn't seem to work: 3 partymembers still entangled even when not in battle -> causes dex to drop :(
  • other party member (the one with good diplomacy and such skills) keeps being invisible
  • * sanctuary on cleric is no use: cleric is still being attacked
  • path finding very stupid
  • Some quests cannot be completed (yes, I even tried to followup on the walkthrough)
  • * identify spell should be free of charge (meaning no 100gp cost) -> unfortunately it does. So it's better than to have traders identify for you than picking it as a spell you want to know when you're levelling
  • and so on and so forth

I must say, that if I had known about these kinds of problems (and also from the problmes other ppl are experiencing) I'd have skipped this game alltogether.

The only plusses I can think of is that the graphics are rather good (I really like to see my invisible sorceres sneak past a giant, with the wavering elven cloak, very nice details) and the general implementation bases of ADnD... But that's all...

...and I really thought of buying it. Thanks! Bugged games are always a mess.

Numbers 1 & 2 are definitely bugs, without a doubt.

Number 4 (NPC loot problem) is practically fixed with the official patch.

Number 5 sounds like you REALLY need to download the patch.

Number 6 is NOT a bug. Identify in 3.5 Edition is supposed to cost you a material component, which in this case is 100 gold.

Overall, I'd advise to download the patch, if you haven't already, to fix much of these problems. I have, and haven't encountered most of these problems. I pray that it does the same for you. ;)

Sanctuary now allows a saving throw. Not a terribly difficult one.
