I'm about to enter the Nashkel mines:
Me (Fighter/Mage)
Imoen
Jaheria
Khalid
Minsc
Dynaheir
I might get Dynaheir killed or kick Minsc and her out so I can get Yeslick and either Ajantis or Kivan when the tom comes
Can you rate my Party?

This is the basic party. Very good, and if you plan to import to BG2 also good rolleplaying.
I presume you use longbows, so no need for Kivan, and imoen makes a good shotbow archer.
(Bows are VERY powerfull in BG1)
Overall, it's a good party, although you might consider dropping Jaheira and Kalid and take Ajentis (nice NPC) and Branwen.
Have fun!

I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Fighter/Mage, I reckon you play as an archer mage?
Imoen is awesome, Khalid is something betwheen good and ok, Dynaheir is good but no the best mage available, Jaheira sucks an Minsc is good but I'd take Kivan instead of him. You also might consider playing with a smaller party cos that way your chars would level up much faster.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

For a start it is not a bad party.
The Roleplaying part comes in when you reach BG2.
I would drop Minsc and Dynahier if I had that party.
Ajantis and Branwen are pretty good as a replacement.
But otherwise the party will suffice and you should make it through the game, mind you, you can do it with any party and enough experience at your back.
*SPOILER*
If you don't mind restarting, all the characters that you aquire will be the same level as you except Branwen because of the whole stone issue that you have to solve.

Sorry, I would like to apologise into leading my peers into a misconception that your characters that you pick up will have the same experience.
I am profusely sorry about that, I have just checked the game now and saw that I was mistaken.
It was just pure luck that they were the same level as me when I found them.
Once again I am sorry.

I personally think that your party is pretty good with the following exceptions.
Khalid has low morale and is inclined to flee at the first sign of trouble. I know he comes hand in hand with jaheira though; the only way to avoid this is for him to "accidentally" meet an untimely end.
In BG1, i find single class mages do not tend to live very long. Their spells are fairly weak and with such low hp and armour available, they tend to die often. Dynaheir never lasts long in my party unfortunately, and I usually prefer a multiclassed mage or bard.
Otherwise though, your party is the "actual" party that the start of BG2 is based upon. I wont reveal anything (just in case you havent played it yet) but you essentially start BG2 with the exact party you have there, no matter what you actually did in BG1.

If I hadn't had Khalid and Dynaheir in my party in BG1, the beginning of BG2 wouldn't have had the impact on me that it did.
As for Dynaheir dying, well, she's not supposed to be up front. I'd keep her at the back of the party, offering magical support to the front-liners.
And Khalid... well, I've said it before, I really like the fact that this guy is a fighter (and not a bad one at that) yet he isn't all that courageous. It's sort of fresh. After all, it's nice to see that these npc's don't just have different stats, they've different personalities as well.

Good party, except for Khalid and Jaheira. Neither are really worthwhile. Khalid is an awful fighter - poor dexterity particular, iirc, and Jaheira is pretty substandard. Ditch these and pick up Xan and Kivan or Ajantis. If you're an archer go for Ajantis - you can use the gauntlets of ogre strength on him to make him a very good fighter.
I've always been surprised how many other people use Khalid and Jaheira, I've always found them pretty useless. The weakness of Khalid certainly doesn't justify having Jaheira around for her healing magic, and she can't hold her own in a fight anyway. If you need a healer then the petrified priest at the fairground is a better bet - I've forgotten her name though.
