Anyone tried this combo? I am trying this on my 3.5 run thru the game...(didn't finished the 3rd one as the character was messed up).
wanted the immediate heavy armor feat that comes with soldier (for the sith mask). but i adjusted the attributes so tat it is more of a scoundrel. (high dex for defence).
Str 12 +1mod
Dex 17 +3mod
Con 14 +2mod
Wis 13 +1mod
Char 13 +1mod
Int 8 -1mod (skills arent that important anyways.
after making Dex to 18, will prob spend attribute points on Wis
managed to finished Taris as a level 2 soldier (killing starkiller was a *****), then will go on to 18 levels of Guardian. lol
comments anyone?
Soldier/Guardian anyone?
First off, where're you getting those extra 3 ability points from? You've got 81 there, if my math is correct...
Secondly, why dexterity? You're using what seems like a pretty straightforward hack n' slash build to me. You don't have scoundrel's luck and with a base dexterity 18 your defense will never be much of a help against Malak, and besides that, you've got high con and the highest possible VP of any class combination. You shouldn't need high defense. Would've been better off with a strength build for added damage, IMO.
Couldn't really tell you anymore until you list your force powers and feats.

i am reciting from memory so maybe the maths may not be 100% accurate, but thats the general shape of my attributes.
the scoundrel's luck only account for a +2 defence, right? shouldn't affect too much. i build fighters based on damage before so trying something different.
read about those 50+ defence in the forums here, so anxious to try. attack-wise will be getting the Master speed, master flurry for high damage. probably multiple low damage attacks per round. with 18 levels of guardian to come, shld be enuff for me to get the force powers like force armor, etc etc for the defence part.
hopefully, didnt get my planning wrong. spent quite some time getting off Taris using a level 2 character. anymore comments on my forthcoming Guardian-ship...

Improved scoundrel's luck accounts for +4 defense , that's with a level 6 scoundrel. With base dexterity 18 your defense will be about 49 maximum -- that's with master speed, master valor, force armor and a hyper-adrenal alacrity all active. Without all that, your defense will be 34. If you're using two-weapon instead of dueling it'll be 31. Finally, if you don't have access to the Yavin space station it'll be 2 points less than that again.

Why only lvl2/lvl18 it's not like your guardian needs the extra forcepowers. Why not go a little higher on soldier for extra feats.
Personally I prefere a lvl4 scout/guardian for free implants and uncanny dodge. then you can go jedi at lvl 4 and have the same amount of feats as a soldier.

I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.
when i played as guardian/soldier, i didnt used force powers at all, except for speed
a put all points to strengh, and when i giht with malak, on every hit, i took him like 100VP... it was very easy that fight
so...guardian is the best choice for people like me, i played all the other games like dark forces 1 and 2, jedi outcast and academy

Why not just advance to lvl 8 instead of waiting I mean you don't really need a whole ton of extra force powers and by the end of the game you got a whole arsenal of em so you'll probably end up having to many to use plus with the guardian you don't have a lot of force points so you don't want to be using a whole ton of force besides ones like master speed, force shield, improved energy resistance, and those build up stat force powers.
Somebody from somethin somethin...
