Editing, enhancing and reworking games with add-ons? Questions.

Post by Minotaur »

Hi all, Minotaur Newbe here -be kind okay, I know this might seem stupid of me...

(let me first say that I am not sure if I am posting this is the correct place - Moddy's please let me know if needed. :) )

Now.

I am in the process of D/L a bunch of add ons, custom made bits and new sections/quests to my BG2-SoA set. I am getting all of the extras from a site (found through this forum) called Sorcerer's Place and although some of it takes awhile to D/L I am having a ball (I am loving being able to add to a game I truly already love)

Here is the thing though. I will, in the end, have d/l Several added quests sections (Imoen's romance and a large add on that leads to new quests with Yoshimo for starters) and such, but...

I have my eye on adding something that claims to make SoA a whole new game, plus I am adding new NPC's - what I am wondering is will this screw up all the extra quests I have d/l?

Is there like a master file program to bring all edits together? I am looking into ShadowKeeper. :)

I don't mean to sound dumb, I am just new to this. Please direct me somewhere if nothing else.

it might, that's one of the drawbacks of addons...

oh... and this thread is much better suited in the SoA forum...

Well, it depends...

If the mods are all WeiDU mods, you're fine. The Darkest Day has the greatest compatibility issues, I believe.

The Yoshimo Mod is Tortured Souls, no? I believe it has some compatibility issues. Generally do the following
Official/baldurdash patch
All WeiDU mods, in any order
The non-WeiDU mods, with care.

The majour modder communities all have their own boards, where you can likley get better assistance.

Good gaming!

It's generally better to install non-WeiDU Mods before WeiDU mods.

And it is better to play the entire game before playing it with the mods - some things may become unpleasant for newcomers.

Doh!

That's right, non-WeiDU mods first. I stand corrected

I believe Tortured Souls has some specific installation instructions in its readme with regard to other mods. I had some issues and had to reinstall because I didn't read the readme first.
