Yeah I know, I'm overposting by starting two threads as a total newbie to this board. I've participated in enough gaming boards to know how annoying it is when newcomers invade the forum. This question has been bothering me for some time, so please forgive my indulgence
The situation: Harper quest. I've got Jaheira in my party, and am playing along with her romance script. I resuce the Harper guy, agree to help Xzar (there isn't much other choice ), talk to all of the Harpers in the base (including the spectral harpers), get the bird, give it to Xzar, watch him get killed, and talk to the harper assasin.
The trouble is, that's as far as I've ever been able to get in the Harper quest. I've heard that there is a second quest as part of the Jaheira romance script, but I've never, ever been able to get to it.
Supposedly someone talks to her, she leaves, comes back... gets kidnapped at some point, and the PC needs to rescue her. My question is, exactly how does this come about? I asked this once before (different board), and I've been told some wildy differnt things. Some say that I should wait around the docks district. Others say that I need to go to the Umar hills, while still others say that something will happen in the druid grove. I've even heard that the Harper comes for Jaheria at a random time. My only theory presently is that I just finish the game too fast--even doing nearly every quest and getting my party (usually of 4) well past the XP cap, I can finish the game in about a month of game time. This certainly hinders some of the class specfic quests.
What I really need to know is: could someone tell me how the Harper quest happened in your game so that I can figure out why I never get to it. For example, I was in the druid grove and right after Cernd won the challenge I rested (while still inside the building) ...
I've done almost every non-class specifc quest in the game, and if I haven't done it, I'd like to know about it, so don't worry about "spoiling" anything. If I can't figure out what's wrong, there's nothing to spoil
Thanks in advance

Replying to my own post before anyone else has... I'm quite definately insane
In case it wasn't clear amoungst my ramblings above, my problem is with this line in the description of the Harper/Jaheira quest (from this site), "Early in the game she will be called away for consultations and when she returns ( quite abruptly, actually... ) it is with a request that you follow her to the Harper headquarters for an interview with her superiors." That's the part that never happens.
The farthest the Jahiera romance gets is to her a chat about settling down. Maybe I just need to get further in the dialog? All I can think to try is waiting a big longer in game time or reinstalling BG2. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know...

Do you rest your party often? In a tavern? Try sleeping in the streets or in the wilderness too. I have no memory of how it came about exactly or when, but I seem to remember resting and she was suddenly out of the party and resting again and she was back, requesting that we go immediately to the Harper hold. This was before the trip to spellhold probably in the first week, maybe week and a half of game time. I never exited Atkathla except for Nalia's stronghold quest. In my current game, I've recently emerged from the Underdark and already have had the first visit from Terminsel. This is after roughly a month of in-game time. Only thing I can think of is that the in game romance script is screwing up the story progressions with the Harpers some how. Try playing as a female for your main character, see if that makes a difference.
I've been romancing Jaheria and here's what I've found: Everything in the game is random, it all happens at random intervals be it the romance with her or the in-fighting between characters of rival alignment. The only constant I found was when you and Jaheria actually start getting serious, immediately after she finishes talking Aerie pipes up and throws ni her two cents on the situation and tries to win you over as well. Their fighting over me was side-splitting. But I digress.
The basics to understand with the Jaheria thing is it's random. But here's what happened to me: She and I had our thing going on, and when I went on the Druid's Grove quest with Cernd I rested outside the troll cave. When we woke up there were brigands standing over us and one threatened Jaheria. It proceeded nicely from there with me basically saying I'd kill the guy where he stood if he hurt her and so on. After that she talked more frequently, but once again it was random.
What sucked was when she gets told to return to Harper's Hold and you do but no one is there. I rested a few times, then one tmie I woke up and she was just gone, so the quest proceeded from there. Hope all of that helps, but I found Jaheria worth fighting for, although the thought of deflowering Aerie does have its own twisted appeal...
