Money to burrrrrnnnnn!!!

Post by Moonbiter »

Okay. I'm only level one, but I managed to "liberate" Soul Gems worth about 100 000, probably by some oversight on the designer's part. Anyways, I'm stuck. First of all I don't know the first thing to do with these Soul-thing-u-may-bobs, second, there is no merchant in Balmora capable of pawning them. I'm just too rich. Like the useless rookie I am I want to get myself a monster blade and maybe some armour, but where can I go to buy that? Suggestions?

I think you can't sell them for their full value anywhere. Instead, use them for enchanting something nice for yourself (of course you need high high high enchantment skill and intelligence, or cash for using enchanter...). Early on you might want to make something to help you travel faster, breath underwater, restore your attributes or open locks. Just to name few examples. Go ahead and give it a try - you'll get soul gems at least as valuable later on the game with ease.

In my experience, the stores have a limited amount of cash, so you can not sell anything massive to them. However, you can buy a bunch of stuff, giving them lots of cash, then they would have enough to purchase your gem. The large soul gems are much more valuable to use rather than sell, I would spend some time to find how best to use it. I began by making my char have shoes that allowed me perminent levitation. Although slow, it allowed me to walk vertically, and thus avoid all ground-based melee fighters. It greatly improved my odds in combat. Ring of perminent invisibility is nice. I also found a good ring and created my own spell, called it A-Bomb. 100 pts of fire dmg x 2 seconds, for a ranged effect of 100 ft. It was awsome. Only had two charges though, but that didn't matter. :D

Mudcrab has twice as much money. But IMO those creature-merchants ruin the game.

I found Creeper, who has about 5000, which is peanuts. I sold the cheaper gems, and will hang on to the Greater stuff for a while. No good gear to buy, anyways.

1st level and a 100,000 soul gem...help

Find a safe place to stash it, on a box rather than in one (where you may lose it if the computer re-calculates the box's contents, which it sometimes does. Forget it for now, and come back to it when you are a dozen or so levels up.

You can get some truly fine armour with that gem, but that will mess up the game-balance for you at the moment.

Enjoy the lower levels for what they are, they are at least as much fun as later, if not more so.

One of the reasons I keep re-starting is that I enjoy the low level stuff so much.
The head of the guild asked a new prospect to descibe himself in as few words as possible. The prospect made it in one, "Concise".
