Wizardslayer

Elven Scout (ranger kit)
The Elven scout to all other races than elves is thought to exist only in song and legend. This is due to the fact that they rarely allow themselves to be seen by any other than elven eyes. His skill in evasion is unparalleled, but these abilities come at the cost to his fighting skills and spell casting.
Advantages:
+2 dex
+75 hide in shadows and move silently at level 1, and another 75 at level 10
Gains "disappear" ability innate at level 9, 12, 15, and 18 (this ability lasts for two rounds and allows the scout to automatically make his roll to hide in shadows in even the most open terrain. it also increases his movement rate by 2 for the duration)
Gains permanent non-detection at 12th level
Gains farsight innate at level 7, 9, 11, and 13.
+2 Thaco with bows
Can cast arcane spells from scrolls of the Illusion school (Though most arcane scrolls make no sense to the scout, he has gained such a sense of the science of evasion that he can cast Illusion spells from scrolls by intuition. Unfortunately, this ability cannot be translated to other schools nor can he memorize the illusion spells as he has no understanding of the underlying arcane powers at work during spell casting)
Disadvantages:
-2 str
Cannot use Strength enhancing items (This is a conscious choice as the scout is opposed to becoming dependent upon his strength, making him no different than a lowly fighter)
Cannot wear any armor other than elven chain
Cannot specialize in any melee weapon, and can only be proficient with the dagger and short sword for melee
Does not gain any offensive spells as a ranger (the open casting of offensive spells would force him to remain within sight of enemies during the casting time, something the scout finds particularly distasteful)
For the same reason, defensive and neutral spells gained as a ranger are also limited to those generally cast beyond the reach of enemies (for example, he cannot learn defensive harmony, as it is usually used in the thick of battle)
Must be Elven
What do you think? I like the kit a lot. Do you think it is balanced?
