What do you think is the best class?
Solo? I've only completed the game once while soloing... it was with my Undead Hunter. Have you any idea how powerful Carosmyr +6 is??? Actually I've only completed the game when I did this!

Well, I have recently discovered the power of the tenser's transformation spell (level 6) as a skald (and no doubt as a blade, bard or jester as well).
In short - wow. Makes you a fighter of equivalent level in terms of THACO and doubles your HP's - does something to armour class also.
My HP is around 230 with it, my THACO -6 and my AC around -10 from memory.
It only lasts 1 round per level, but thats 18 rounds right now - unbelievable.
If you havent tried this its a must. Bards are very cool with this spell.

In BGII I use a little SK magic to add a kit. I prefer the Barbarian/Theif the most. The Kensai/Theif & Wizard Slayer/Theif are both more powerful, but I prefer a Conan the Barbarian type of character. Scaling the walls of the temple to burgle it, and then killing the giant snake when I accidently wake it up.
A bit of cheese: a Half-Orc Barbarian/Theif with decent stats can use Valygar's armour even before UAI.
I didn't thought that you could multi a barbrian (even with SK).
BTW which are the stats you need to wear Valigar armour, and also I read somewhere that F/M (multi and/or dual) can wear it with the right stats: anybody know more about this?
For me, a plain old fighter/thief is the most versatile character. You can wear all the armour and helmets you want, use just about any weapon, and are able to disarm traps, set snares, and pick locks. Once you get the white dragon scale armour, you can have a decent armour class AND use all of your thieving skills.
At high levels, the 'use any item' special ability also allows you to use wands and cast spells from scrolls (only once per scroll though). Once you get at least four spiked snares in your arsenal, you can wipe out any dragon by yourself with no trouble. In a pinch the 'improved evasion' ability increases your armour class, and 'avoid death' is perfect for those pesky death-dealing mages.
My favourite character was a fighter in BG which I duel-classed to a thief at level 7. Now that I've maxed out the experience points, he's a level 39 thief that can pick any lock, set any snare, and disarm any trap. With a good katana in one hand (Celestial fury or Hindo's doom) and the Purifier bastard sword in the other (supposedly only for Paladins, but I can 'use any item'!), even a fallen solar doesn't last long.
I prefered to duel-class, since multi-classed characters take twice as long to advance. Of course, to get a decent thief THAC0, it helps having strength and dexterity in the mid 20's, with lots of THAC0-improving equipment.

Wizard Slayer. At lvl 40 have 113% magic resistance + 10% from tears or bhaal = 10% from amulet (WS can use it) gives them the max of 127% MR. Imprisonment is the only offensive spell that affects them. Plus with Greater Whirlwind Attack and their THACO at that lvl, they can destroy a mage's ability to cast in 1 round.
