continue as fighter:

+ more feats

- do you need those feats?
- less HPs

ftr4/barbX

+ more HP
+ rages
+ damage reduction
+ decent skillpoints (can take Wildereness Lore to a decent score)

- less feats

as you can see, all the differences come down to the extra feats tha fighter gets, otherwise the ftr/barb wins out, so, the question is, do you need those feats?

by level 16, you'll have 10 feats for a ftr/barb, 16 for a ftrX. so what you have to decide is how many you need. for me, the mandatory feats would be something like:

power attack
cleave
great cleave
weapon focus weapon 1
weapon specialisation weapon 1
weapon focus weapon 2
weapon specialisation weapon 2
improved critical

this leaves 2 more (antoher weapon specialisation, saving throws improvement, dirty fighting, maximised attacks, etc.)

so there's really no point in getting more fighter levles. decide what weapons will this char use, what will the other tank (pally) use - and plan accordingly. there are exellent weapons in every group, you won't be really hurt if you pick one and not another.

if you want more feats, i'd suggest adding more fighter levles to ftr/barb build - as much ftr levles as you need to get thefeats, and no more. even a ftr15/barb1 is more powerfull than ftr16.

another question:

did my dwarf shield have exp penalty (20%) if multiclassed and the barbarian level is higher than the fighter level?

it wont suffer XP penalty, coz fighter is a drawf's favored class and therefor the fighter levels are not considered in the XP penalty calculating thing.

sorry for bad explanation, hope u understand :(
