I have searched around and not found anything conclusive, so my apologies if this has come up before
What happens when you max all of your major and minor abilities? Do you stop leveling or does it do anything if you try building up the miscellaneous skills??
Also, is 100 the maximum ascension level you can achieve?
btw, I know that gaining levels in the miscellaneous skills influences the multiplier when you ascend.
Thanks!

you cant get them up above 100, and you cant get them up by performing the skill (i dont think)
but you can, if you have over 100 (through magic, enchantment) in the governing skill, train them again with the use of a master trainer
they stay at 100, but you get another point to levelling up
i'm not sure if that counts as cheating. if you couldnt do that, you would find yourself having to manage multipliers so that you had three 5x multipliers each level
which would be irritating

lol! That would be irritating! I'm not really a power player, so I don't pay all that much attention to this. Besides, from an RP perspective it would be a bit unrealistic...hardly anyone is good at *everything* Besides...from what I gather people tend to acquire a godlike status regardless of the way they tune their abilitities, so a little balance is not a bad thing.
Mostly, I was just curious because the whole system is so new to me after being familar with second and third AD&D rules.

Indeed... I played BGI, SoA, PS:T, IWD I and II... and NWN... before finally trying Morrowind.Originally posted by thousandfrac

In a way I'm glad I saved it for last though... Everything else would have been such a let down had I played Morrowind first.
Though it is hard to say, SoA and PS:T have such wonderful storylines and party interaction...
The things I like about Morrowind are totally different, such as the complete freedom, the graphics, actual days, nights, storms etc...

i had to work out those, hehe. i havent played the icewind dales, though i have some of them.
planescape i loved, but never finished. baldurs gate 2 was great
cant stand neverwinter. its so linear and boring, a massive step back from baldurs gate
diablo2 was fun, but a lot less cerebral
morrowind though... wow... a sequel which takes out irritating things and has better graphics while still giving the massive freedom and scope and mod'ableness would be amazing
i've never played any other game, where i just felt like going for a walk with no aim

Yes, I agree completely.. NWN was an utter waste... It was all a lot of nothing, mediocre graphics, uninspiring storyline, and boring battles. Also, as you say, far too linear!
I love SoA, lol! I have forgotten the number of times I have played it, but this is why I decided to try MW, I wanted to play something different.
lol! I know what you mean, every time I sit down to play it is "What do I want to do this time? Wander and watch the sunset? Actually complete a quest? Find some ruins and engage in a bit of hack and slash? Play with potions? Practice my spells...?" LMAO!

What the BG series and MW have in common is how you can allow yourself to be immersed in those gameworlds. The same was true for the first computergame I ever played: Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss.
Ah, you can only play those games for the first time once...
