In addition to the rewards, the disposition of the other members towards you increases as you complete quests for the house. Since many will barter with you or train you....

So which one? There are 3 I can join now, I guess. I have a feeling my actions will affect Morrowind politics, and it would be a bit against character to sort of hook up with the Borgias, if you know what I mean...

That depends on you
I suspect that Redoran is a bit more 'honorable' if you want to avoid feeling dirty. On the other hand, you may prefer a more relaxed attitude, in which case the other two houses might be more appealing.
It is also related to the type of character you are playing. I am playing a mage/fighter type and I chose Telvanni if only because I think their architecture is cool, and they have a chaotic neutral type of philosophy I relate too
Though, bear in mind... there are other people here who will have far more expertise in this area. I am only familiar with Telvanni, since this is my first time through the game

Thanx. I'm playing a fighter/rogue sort of thing, and I guess she's more Chaotic Good than anything else. Maybe bordering on neutral. I'll see where the Telvanni gets me. I need to grow up a bit pretty soon. 3rd level stinks.

House Telvanni favors magic-based classes, but their philosophy fits stealthy characters, too. House Telvanni Rules:
"If you steal from another Telvanni, but still live, then clearly you deserve whatever you stole. Murdering your opponents by magic or treachery is the traditional way of settling disputes. If you win, then clearly your argument has more merit. You may be expelled as in any other Great House, but most Telvanni will not care or even know about it."
Plus, I like the rewards for their quests. I've done House Hlaalu once, but there's something evil about them. And that Crassius Curio is something else.
House Redorran favors combat-based classes, but you may find their honor code too stuffy.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Pretty intertesting dilemma, this: The Fighter's Guild, which I have now figured out is as corrupt as the mob, has sent me out to kill this pitiful wretch called Tongue-Toad. I don't want to kill the owergrown lizard, and it's not in character to do so, yet I have a nasty feeling it will get back at me if I let him go. A spoiler, please?

Let him go, especially if you're Thieves Guild. Also, check this thread.

I'm a Redoran man myself - although my second character has just become Hlaalu for variety - and I like them a lot.
If you make use of your combat skills, it is easy to advance very high with relative ease. they have some nice combat trainers, their quests tend to stay away from the more evil naughtiness, and their big buildings look nice and are navigable without having to fly all over the place.
on the other hand, they can be a bit stuffy, their rules are very tough - so good thieving skills are very useful - and the bloody dust storms and barren landscape around Ald'Ruhn and your stronghold are fairly irritating.
still, if you like to fight and you want to be Good, redoran are cool.
oh, and if for no other reason, pick them for living in a giant crab.

NOW we are getting somewhere! I'm now officially a Televanni agent, despite being the worst spellcaster in the history of Tamriel. I'm on my way to my own shag pad, babeeee. Smooch city - here I come. I'm in the moolahhhh etc..
Honestly, this is getting good. The only thing that gives me the heebie - jeebies is that this lot reminds me a bit too much of the D&D Drow...

I have just spent a very profitable time in the Ald Sotha ruins. After an extended visit with my friend, Mr. Mud Crab, I am 100 K richer (brings me to a total of about 180 K..yes, yes... I know this is chump change in MW ), and most exciting, I finally got my hands on a daedric long blade!
I am thinking of enchanting it with a cast on touch spell and I'm wondering which to choose. I was considering paralyze since it would be useful for soul trapping, but I would seriously appreciate other suggestions.

lol! I'm not sure though about adding soul trap to the enchant, since timing is a big factor, and I don't want to just use the sword to finish them off (I prefer to carry as little as possible). I'm hoping that just the paralyse spell will do the job and I can then zap their souls exactly when I'm ready.. of course.. no doubt some of these critters well be magic resistant, but ah well
I have also liberated a very nice daedric claymore from an obliging foe and I'm considering enchanting it with CE fortify strength and agility
Not only will this make the thing easier to lug around (it weighs 80 pounds ).. but it will also enhance my melee skills ... Hmmm I've just maxed in long blade...combined with a weapon that already inflicts wicked damage... If I have fortified abilities..
No... really, I'm *not* a power gamer, honest!
@Coot, well I do still feel somewhat new to the game. Though I guess I have managed, with help, to figure a lot out in the relatively short time I've been playing it. Or I no longer feel overwhelmed anyway.

Well, I prefer Absorb Health - it doesn't have nasty repurcussions when you've got critters reflecting it back at you, and it's nice to heal yourself with every whack. I don't like Soul Trap on Strike because I don't want to inadvertantly fill Grand Soul Gems with kagouti and so on.

lol! Good point, I hadn't considered the backlash possibility! Still, I wish there was a way of making them immobile so I could trap their souls at precisely the right moment. Though the game is already a bit of a power gamer's fantasy, so some balance is not a bad thing.
Yes indeed, those grand soul gems are not exactly easy to find....
