problem - mazzy wont join up

Hi guys, ive got a problem; hopefully someone can help.

I just defeated kangaxx the demi-lich.

During the battle, 4 of my 6 characters were imprisoned (anomen, minsc, jaheira, mazzy), leaving myself and imoen.

Imoen cast a freedom scroll retrieving all of the characters back. I then invited all of them back into my party. All but mazzy.

Since I freed mazzy, she wont talk to me now. The others were fine but she isnt.

Ive tried reloading from different save games and the situation happens every time. I tried to dominate her but then she just attacked me when it wore off.

To make matters worse, when she attacked me I killed her in self defence, and then went looking for another npc to replace her. I found valygar and he attacked me on site also.

Whats going on here guys? Seems like a bug. Is there any way out of this? I can live without mazzy, but I need her equipment and I want valygar as a replacement if I cant have her....

What do you mean she won't talk to you? Are there any messages? If it says "character appears to be busy" it's a bug and can be fixed by downloading the latest patch.

Also, does Valygar say anything before he attacks you?

In conclusion, download the latest official patch if you haven't done so already, and also download the unofficial baldurdash bug fixes. Thay might solve your problem.

She says "Mazzy has nothing to say to you".

Also, with valygar, he is initially blue and will join my party, and then automatically attacks me as a member of my party, leaving the party straight away.

I can even get him to another area, and he still does it.

Crazy huh....

There seems to be something wrong with your game (either the installation or your saved games). My guess would be there's a problem with your party members' state flags, but I have no idea how to fix them. If you just want to get Mazzy and Valygar in your party and and see if you can (with luck) avoid any further problems, then I suggest that you use the Ctrl-Q cheat key to add the NPCs to your party. If they attack you after that, I don't know how to fix it.

To use Ctrl-Q, you have to have cheat codes enabled. Put your mouse cursor over the NPC you want in your party, then press the CTRL key and, while holding it down, press the Q key. The NPC will automatically become a member of your party. This works for EVERY creature in the game, including Irenicus, squirrels, player-created characters, etc.

Thanks for the advice.

Im using a mac so im not sure i can get that mod to work.

I cant seem to get out of this situation, so what I have done is killed mazzy, and interpreted it in a role playing sense that she went insane after the fight with kangaxx, and met an untimely end after turning on her own party.

Ive avoided valygar as he attacks me on site for reasons unknown - perhaps he never forgave me for dropping him from the party earlier.

Other npcs seem to be fine - ive just enlisted cernd to join us, and he seems happy enough.

So my party is now

- me as a half elf skald
- minsc
- anomen (knighted)
- jaheira
- imoen
- cernd

And it seems good enough. Thanks for your advice guys, time to proceed to chapter 7

I think Valygar attacking you has something to do with Mazzy's and Valygars 'special' relationship (did you have those squire-dialogues ?

).
Anyway, some NPCs take care of each other (Minsc <-> Nalia for example when Minsc 'adopts' her as his new witch) and will attack you if you kill their 'partner', so thats probably why Valygar didn't like you anymore

It's Aerie that Minsc adopts. But I think you're right about Mazzy/Valygar. It is probably a result of a script that makes Valygar attack you if you attack Mazzy due to their Knight/Squire relationship.

Can you create a new Mazzy using the CLUAConsole:CreateCreature command?

I think he can 'adopt' either Aerie or Nalia as is new witch, but I'm not 100% sure about that...
